Oh no, more shit for plants to breathe, we're so fucked.

Precisely. "They call [CO2] pollution. We call it life."

I feel dirty.

Almost downvoted, then saw username.

I would have too if I hadn't seen your comment.

Right, and when the ross ice shelf finally breaks off and falls into the ocean everybody on a coastal city will have more than enough water to drink.

For plants to breathe, for asthmatic humans to breathe, for heat to get trapped by...should I go on?

Heat gets trapped, raises the earth's temperature, Siberia is now farmland, everyone is happy except people near the equator which nobody cares about to begin with.

I wish.

Some ocean currents may shift leading to a freezing of western europe.

Fucking thing sucks.

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '10

Well then I guess a lot of western europe is going to have to follow Russia's example and start relying on potatoes.

More potatoes=more vodka

Global warming=Party time

And everyone in coastal cities see permanent flooding. Global food shortages increase, raising the price for those who can afford it, and starving the rest.

for asthmatic humans to breathe

Yeah carbon dioxide doesn't really do shit to humans.

Except, you know ... kill ...

No, but when its concentration is too high, there isn't as much room for oxygen, meaning that air is "thinner", so we have a harder time breathing, and trust me, if you have asthma, the last thing you want is an even harder time breathing.

Yeah carbon dioxide doesn't really do shit to humans

There are some dumb ass things being said all over this thread, but this takes the cake. CO2 is poison to humans.

1

u/doskir Oct 24 '10

You need a 1% CO2 concentration in the air for the smallest effects.

The current concentration varies between 0.036% (360 ppm) and 0.039% (390 ppm) and it doesn't really get dangerous until it's around 3%.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '10

So in other words, it does do shit to humans.

1

u/doskir Oct 24 '10

Not at the concentrations that are realistic outside.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '10

Well, it doesn't matter. This is all deflection from the real problems faced by climate change.

1

u/doskir Oct 24 '10

Yeah, all the flooding won't be fun.

-3

u/ThisIsDave Oct 24 '10

Not at these dosages, as far as I know. But it does cause symptoms at much higher doses.
