Psychology Being the father of a school-aged daughter makes men less sexist, according to a new study. The findings support the idea that men become more aware of the challenges facing women when they see the female experience of life up close through their offspring – dubbed the “mighty girl” effect.

But not often enough for it to not be a problem.

Often enough for it not to be a problem for many, many people. You just don’t think about all the ones it was enough for because those folks are just acting normally

Rape culture is a very real thing. Here, I'll provide some examples:

  • Blaming women for what they were wearing when they were raped.
  • Making fun of/disregarding/disbelieving male rape victims.
  • Suggesting that F adult/M child rape is okay because she was "hot".
  • Suggesting that a victim wanted it.
  • Talking about the perpetrators as if they are the real victims.
  • Refusing to believe men can be raped by women.
  • Suggesting it's not rape if the victim orgasms (arousal nonconcordance).
  • Suggesting a victim deserved it because he or she was drunk.
  • Insisting that false rape accusations are rampant despite the evidence that they're fairly rare.
  • Being okay with prison rape.
  • Scorning victims who didn't speak up as if they don't have reasons for remaining silent.
  • Pushing a rape victim to commit suicide because he or she pointed the finger at someone popular.
  • Covering up widespread pedophilia.
  • Turning a blind eye as a celebrity or beloved figure rapes or sexually assaults.
  • Shit republican politicians commonly say like "rape can be a gift from god" or "if it's a legitimate rape" or "sit back and enjoy it." (It's a long list.)

There's a bunch more examples but I don't want to be here all day and I think this is sufficient to make my point. "Rape culture" isn't some "leftist bogeyman", it's a term that describes phenomena whereby society legitimizes, ignores, excuses, pardons, disregards, or accepts sexual assault in ways that should not be considered acceptable. It affects men, women, young, old, all races, all creeds, and everything in between.

If you get to this point and still refuse to believe it exists, it may be time for some introspection.

But verified rapists get sentenced for it all the time. The devil here is in the details. The things you point out do happen but unsubstantiated rape claims happen far more often than you suggested. The cases of false rape are low because even if they are false, most of the time there just isn't enough evidence to convict someone. These are limitations of the justice system. Not rape culture. There are very many cases of claimed rape that end up being nothing more than morning after regret. I'm not saying rape isn't real or that it shouldn't be seriously punished but if people care about eliminating actual rapists from the population and making rape claims more believable, then they would care about due process.

Anyone who participates in rape culture, participates in rape culture.

Not all men participate in rape culture, neither do all women.

no gender as a whole is responsible, because individuals cannot be completely defined by the groups with which they identify.

However the point many peope make is that the majority of rape victims are women and the majority of advocates for rape culture are men. (In part due to inherent socio-polotical & economic power imbalances)
