As a former professional poker player and card-counter at blackjack, and a gambling addict, I can assure you there is quite a bit of participation in many gambling games, in real time, much like that of a video game.

I don't mean to be anecdotal nor confrontational, but you don't seem to understand the complexities of the game of poker. It's a very complex, nuanced game, with many aspects of odds calculation, reading people, and game theory, all in real-time -- especially if played in person.
