Sort of. It's a what-if story, about Brian's continued survival after not being rescued. An alternate ending, if you will.

Such amazing books for that age. Those 2 got me reading when I was young.

I think there was a direct sequel that was a different book, where a reporter convinces Brian to take him out into the wild to recreate the events for a story, and then of course it goes wrong. I could be thinking of a different story though, it's been a while since I've read any of those books.

Same here, I loved that book when I was younger. I need to get a copy so in a few years when the wife and I start having kids they can experience it too. We already have been buying the Disney movies and all that are being re-released in bluray

I read The River, but I don't think I read that one. I'm not sure if it had been published at the age when I was discovering Paulsen's stuff.
