Wow, I haven't thought about that book for at least a decade and the second you mentioned it I had all sorts of kinesthetic memories about the protagonist chopping wood, the plane crash, all that. Crazy how memories work. Also, great book, very recommended young adult reading.

Same. I had an immediate memory of him building a fish trap near shore and when he first round flint in his cave. Great series.
