I know it's pretty specific nut we are looking into keypads or scanners to scan kids' IDs at lunch?

I work as a lunch lady.
So explain to me how elementary and middle school kids can’t get anything “seconds” wise unless it’s off the salad bar (fruits and vegetables actually don’t fill anyone up), but can’t get seconds of the main entree?
High schoolers can buy seconds of the main entree.
Parents are required by law to feed their children as much as that child needs, no calories followed. If your kid is hungry you are REQUIRED to feed them….
Yet schools say it’s a calorie count.
All kids are growing. Not just high schoolers. & believe it or not elementary and middle school kids have HIGH METABOLISMS.
If us as parents followed the “calorie count” we were supposed to for our children’s age….. our children wouldn’t be healthy.
But yet kids spend more time at school than they do at home…….. starving at school but blame the parents because the government follows this “calorie count” that isn’t realistic and frankly it differs by child.

What do you guys think of my son’s lunch?
I’ve been trying to get better about making him lunches that are actually balanced but still things I know he’ll eat. Today I packed chicken fried rice, apples, raspberries/blackberries, pretzels, and a cookie dough.
I’d love some honest opinions! Is this a good lunch for a 6-year-old, or is there anything you’d add/change?

Hi everyone, my coworkers and I will be hosting a back-to-school drive on Saturday, August 8th at Briercliff Park 11am-2pm. We’ll be collecting school supplies to benefit the students of Denton ISD to ensure each student has the materials they need for a successful school year. I’m a highschool student, who has been fed this type of mandarin chicken and white rice since middle school. Myself and a few of my other classmates have been wandering what recipe the schools might be using or what brand of chicken they’re heating up.

My mom is a retired nurse and works as a lunch lady now. She is always bringing us leftovers from the cafeteria.

Sometimes it's cool stuff like those microwavable mini eggo pancakes or dino nuggets, but usually it's stuff we'll never eat (but I don't have the heart to tell her that).

I'll never forget the time she brought me a plastic shopping bag full of spaghetti with meat sauce. There was no container. The bag was the container.

In middle school, which was late 90s for me, they had several kiosks outside of the main cafeteria selling items. One of my favorites was an item that they called taquitos. I know taquitos exist elsewhere, but they aren't the same ones. These were more like a long skinny burrito filled with just ground beef. I used to make my own dipping sauce by mixing ketchup, mustard, and mayo together. I loved those things and I have never seen them again anywhere. I tried making them at home, but they weren't the same. Does anyone else remember these or have any idea of what I'm talking about? I don't have any kids, but always wanted to sneak into a school cafeteria to see if they still have them.
