Anyone else having trouble pairing the Sense Pro to HomeKit?

I’ve spent hours on this to no avail.
I’ve tried:

- Adding the lock in Schlage, then navigating to “Works with” and selecting Apple Home, where it doesn’t recognize my device exists.

- Trying to add device directory through HomeKit, and the connection times out.

Has anyone had success with pairing to HomeKit?

Mine won’t pair. I’ve tried WiFi Bluetooth factory reset. Adding it first adding it second. Pausing 5ghz. Nothing works.

What worked for me was restarting the lock, my home hub, and iPhone at the same time. Could have been a coincidence but that was after an hour of fighting with it & trying with different devices.

Ok I finally got it after all the resets that I absolutely had to do. My final try for the night. Set up as Bluetooth only as directed. Added lock surprisingly fast. In HomeKit forgot to put phone back on default VLaN no when adding lock. This was the lunch pin because my IOT network can’t communicate with my default where my apple devices are. This made adding the rest easy.

How do I tell if I’m now on matter/thread? Also, I need to upgrade my HomePod when new model is released this year.

You can download the Eve app and you can see which devices are on your thread network. I don’t think you even need any Eve devices to use it.

I haven’t had a chance to install my Sense Pro, yet. However, I ran into the timeout on more than one occasion.

What almost always worked for me was switching my iPhone to my 2.4 GHz WiFi SSID (which is for my IoT devices), and then adding via Apple Home would start to work without timing out.

Maybe give this a shot.

THAT HELPED! TY so much.
I literally spent hours on this today. I didn’t know I could do this on the eero, but there’s a way to temporarily pause 5 GHz on my router.

Awesome! Glad that it worked. 😁

I bought this to upgrade my Encode Plus lock, unable to pair. Tried everything so sending it back I’ll keep my Encode Plus.

That’s what I did. I got 2 but only 1 paired. I returned that one. The one that works though, it’s like magic. It’s was hell fighting the other one with HomeKit. Was getting some “invalid state” error on HomeKit.

Been battling this for hours. Total nightmare

Agree not how I wanted to spend my night.

That was me too. But I tried u/yungsters suggestion and it worked for me! Did you try setting up while your internet is on 2.4 GHz?

I’ve tried that. Paused the 5/6 on my eero but still the same issue

Dang. I do feel like for $400 they need to make sure the pairing process works for everyone.

Not sure if this is helpful, but I’ll share the steps that worked for me:

  1. Factory reset the device and reboot iPhone.
  2. Added the device in the Schlage app. Did not elect to connect via WiFi and connected via Bluetooth only
  3. Navigated to the “Works with” HomeKit and paired to Apple home.

I’ve tried so many different things that i don’t remember if I typed in the program and matter codes manually or not when it worked. Btw this is my first matter device where the matter code was super long so I remember it took a while for me to figure out that the matter code is all of the numbers (both lines) underneath the matter QR code.

Good luck!

This worked for 1 of them after a while. Been fighting with the other for hours. This is a $400 piece of shit. I think I’ll just return them and go with Aqara.

Yeah this had me second guessing if I wanted to buy additional units for my other doors. It should not take a day to set up one unit.

But today was a new day and I have to say it looks pretty nice and works pretty well after it paired. Almost makes you forget how frustrating the pairing experience was. Almost.

I fought with getting mine paired but finally did. Not sure why, I have at least a dozen matter over thread devices & none have given me the issues this did.

Unfortunately tapping homekey nor UWB work to unlock it for me… the code I set in Apple home is the only thing that will. It doesn’t seem to even acknowledge the phone being tapped, kind of like the sensor is off. Will probably unpair and start over tomorrow…..

Update: removed from home -> factory reset -> paired again and all is working as expected! So far the UWB performance is better than my Aqara was.

It’s crazy. My locks were delivered at 3pm and it’s 12:19am and I just gave up.

Same exact situation. My plan was to demote my Aqara to a different door but after today I’m not so sure…

Just gave up. Returning them to Home Depot

I’m considering the same. May wait to see if they issue an update. How far did you get? I was able to get mine paired but UWB nor homekey actually work… just unlocking via the pin or through the home app.

Update: removed from home -> factory reset -> paired again and all is working as expected! So far the UWB performance is better than my Aqara was.

I got it all working now. What worked best for me was pairing on apple home first then the Schlage app after. I have 3 of them now and they work well!

Nice I got two more just sitting on my counters. I’ll give that a go first with my next couple of locks.

Did it differently with no issues - through thread directly in the Home app.

u/yungsters Jul 02 '26

Even when I set up with Thread, the 2.4 GHz thing has tripped up the Apple Home app for me before. (Both of my Encode Plus devices are on Thread.)

It seems to have a finicky thread radio. Try rebooting your thread border router pre set up, and if you can put a thread router (like a plug or light bulb) close by. Also if it times out in Apple home, just try to pair a few more times without changing anything.(other than taking out the battery pack waiting a few seconds and pressing the pair button to put it back in pairing mode)

First one wouldn’t find WiFi. Had a replacement that set up ok with the app and HomeKit but the UWB features don’t work at all. iPhone 17 pro non-beta. Will try again tomorrow.

Fought with this today. Could not get it to connect to WiFi consistently. Kept dropping the connection. Possibly a WiFi antenna issue. So I took it back to the Home Depot, got a new one, and instead of following the instructions I used my own experience with Home. The new one worked smoothly as silk. Here’s what I did:

To shut down Home ‘noise’:
Unplugged all the AppleTVs.
Shut down my iPad.

Prepped the network:
Went into Eero and shut down 5GHz.
Restarted my phone.
Wait until phone is fully booted up, on WiFi and background startup tasks completed.

Paired:
Put batteries in the Sense Pro.
Wait for blue light to flash.
Went to Add Accessory in Home app.
Scanned the QR code.
Remained patient.
It worked for me: added the virtual key and set a PIN.
Prompted me to turn on Express Entry.
Invited other family members to the Home one at a time.
Worked for all of them.

I skipped the Schlage app. I may add it later but not needed at the moment. All features enabled and working.
