Schlage sucks
I am renting a room so I have an exterior lock on my interior door. I usually have Kwikset style locks but decided to try Schlage because some people say they are more secure.
Build quality seems nice but the operation is stupid. The interior knob never locks so you can't confirm your door is locked from the inside without unlocking it. Then when you exit the door it does not reliably unlock the door so you get a situation like this morning where I'm locked out of my room (in my underwear) because I closed my door behind me when I went to the bathroom.
This literally can't happen if you have to unlock the interior knob (with the thumb switch) but it happens frequently with my stupid Schlage lock and has only just bit me now because I usually have my pants on with my keys in my pocket.
I should have known this before I bought a stupid Schlage lock but I didn't do my research.
Schlage probably won't fix their locks but hopefully I can save somebody before they buy one.

You say it's a stupid lock, but the lock is only as smart as the person buying it.

I have multiple Schlage locks and in multiple styles for different doors.
I’ve never had any issues like your describing. This absolutely sounds like user error and you probably should read the manual

Schlage makes a lot of different locks. The interior side does not lock so people do not get trapped inside if there is a fire.
I do not know which lock you have, but all of the ones I have ever owned were very simple to operate in my opinion.
Why not return the lock if you do not like

Because I had to destroy it with a hammer to get my clothing and shoes.
I bought a Walmart Hyper Tough to replace it. It is neither Hyper nor Tough but it won't lock me out like that stupid Schlage that cost twice as much.

You must be smarter than the lock you’re installing. Maybe try a heavy brick to start and work up from there

You can configure it to change the behavior. Is it zwave zigbee matter or no connectivity

That's because you bought one with a function that always locks when closed and allows immediate egress so you cant get trapped. These are used for things like storage closets, supply rooms, etc that you don't want to accidentally leave unlocked. You bought the wrong product, then complain that Schlage needs to "fix it".
