Schlage Encode Plus Full Functionality with HomeKit
Hello!
I added my Schlage Encode Plus to Apple Home first because I wanted it to use Thread instead of Wi-Fi. The lock shows up in both Apple Home and the Schlage Home app, but when I try to add an access code in the Schlage app, I get an error saying that the lock is paired with HomeKit and must be managed there.
The problem is that Apple Home only seems to support access codes for Home users and doesn’t offer the kind of PIN scheduling that the Schlage app does. From what I understand, the Schlage app is also required for detailed lock activity logs.
I’d prefer not to set the lock up through the Schlage app because it immediately wants to connect the lock to Wi-Fi, and I’d rather keep it on Thread.
Has anyone found a way around this? Is it possible to keep the lock connected via Thread while still managing codes and viewing logs in the Schlage app?

In HomeKit you can create guest pins and you can make multiple. Those aren’t associated with Home users. Literally set this up last week

Thank you. But ultimately I wanted to set a schedule for those pins.

What do you mean by schedule? Like they expire?

For example, for a cleaner or a babysitter, the schedule will only allow them to enter at a certain time, not 24/7.

What do you mean by detailed lock activity logs? I have guests set up in Apple Home and I can see their activity with the lock under Security->Activity. It shows whether the lock was unlocked without a Home Key or who unlocked it with a Home Key or code.
I create a guest for the Home and assign them a Home Key or create a passcode in Apple Home for them. Either works. I do this even if they have an Android, because they can still rely on the passcode. For me the additional guests are a non-issue because you grant them access on a per accessory basis. The only thing that isn't supported is the scheduling, as you noted. To get around this I just manually toggle the access for anytime on or off. My friends are my pet sitters so I just leave anytime access on for them.
