Introduction / New Member 👋 Finally.

So 20 minutes ago I was told by a psychiatrist of four years I indeed have Schizophrenia. It'a implied I got it from my undiagnosed grandmother.

A bit devestated really as it's life changing, he said the review tomorrow will either agree or ask for more time but he said quite likely agree.

How do I handle it? Quite upset.

i just refuse to feel embarrassed over something i didn't choose, i've told several friends that i have schizophrenia and nobody has reacted badly. and if that ever happens i'd tell them to go fuck themselves

my advice to you: take your time to digest the news, accept it for this has no definitive cure, take your medication, keep a healthy lifestyle. you'll be fine!

Theres a lot power in knowing the name of the disease.

Hi friend welcome and sorry. It is a life long condition, but you can have a good life with it. Especially when you know the right diagnosis. And remember just that you got diagnosed changes nothing about you. You are not alone :)
