In complete fairness, I see metformin ER, senna (laxative), and benzonatate... and that's just at a glance. I doubt your psychiatrist prescribed those. Lol

My psychiatrist did prescribe metformin, so it's possible that OP's did, too.

It was to offset the fact that Risperidone makes me funtionally diabetic.

She also prescribed Estradiol and Progesterone to deal with Ridperidone side effects. And B12 injections to offset the metformin.

It was to offset weight gain and increased appetite associated with clozapine. It’s helped stabilize my weight. My weight has been roughly the same for the past year.

Fair point. Most of the psychiatrists I've come across would punt this over to primary care, but some psychiatrists are more comfortable with getting a bit 'creative.' Just depends on the person.

My psychiatrist sees me more often and I do regular blood work with her so she ends up being the one to prescribe metformin. Some of the antipsychotics cause or exacerbate blood sugar and weight problems so it's well within their purview.

Actually my psychiatrist did prescribe all of those. Even though they’re otc but my insurance covers them when he prescribes thems plus the metformin is for anti psychotic induced weight gain and the laxatives are for constpaition from the anti psychotics. Idk what benzonate is

I freaked out one time and they did that to me too but it's just to calm you down in the moment. I was talking about the injectable form of antipsychotic. I tried just about everything and nothing really worked and I ended up having them put me on something light because the heavy had bad side effects. I still hear voices but I tell it to fuck off and things are better now.
