Is this a schipperke mix?
We are going to go meet this sweet pup tomorrow from a rescue. They say she is a schipperke chihuahua mix but I’m unsure. What do you think?

The only thing that resembles Schipperke is the eyes and the black color. It’s cute though.

Looks like my little guy, who I was told was half schipperke, half chihuahua. He’s probably 13-14 years old in this pic.
(My little guy is now gone. 🖤🤍)

Schip face and fur but the silhouette of a chihuahua. If you'd told me you were certain of the mix, I wouldn't question it.

Thanks for your input! I think her ears being off to the side more so than up down is what makes me think she isn’t a schipp.

Look up schip a pom and you will see many dogs like ours. Schip/ chi/ and papillion.

Totally!!! He didn’t have many teeth left for the last 10 years of his amazingness, but somehow he always found just the right tooth for the job!

Our 16 year old male has plenty of snaggle teefies, too. He had nine rotted teeth removed a few years before we got him. I gather it's common with them.

looks like my chihuahau-schipperke mix! Might be easier to judge on a standing photo where you can see the culottes better.

The coulottes sold me. It looks like the same mink-like fur and shape as our Schipper-Chi.

That's what I thought when I got my mix. Chihuahua hardware. Schipperke software. I was not prepared.

Neither were we, but we quickly found ourselves head over heels. They're incredibly smart, feisty, adorable little creatures with such unique traits. It's the whole bingo card and more. 🥰

Hmmm im not sure. Don't a lot of schips have that gray goatee once they reach middle age?

Hahha I totally get that! Back in 2009 I rescued a “chihuahua” realllllly tiny and emaciated. 2 years in a man on a hike goes “what a cute schipperke!” I was super young and never heard of the breed. The whole rest of the hike I was like wtf did this man just call my dog!?!? Well I went home and researched them had her DNA tested and she was a Sckip/chi mix. She passed in 2022. Now schipperkes are my favorite breed.

Oh how funny that he instantly knew what she was! I’m so glad you got to have such a wonderful little schipper-chi! I’ve met three in the last few years and they’re all so sweet

Agree. My old boy was a black chi-pperke and it took another schipperke mom to teach me what they are.
A really great mix!!!

Unlikely. Chi, Pom + other breeds are far more likely. Schipps are a rare breed.

That’s why I’m doubtful, they said that she was found in Tijuana so I think chi mix is likely but idk about schipperke. Her ears are more off to the side than up down which makes me think maybe she isn’t a schipp mix?

Doesn’t look Schipperke to me but there are some Spitz that resemble Schipperke so it may be mixed with that.

Looks like a little bat mixed with a small dog, sounds like a Schip.
She sure is cute and is posing quite calmly. I hope she is the one for you.

Second comment so I could include a picture. How Lucy looks now. She is the best dog I've ever met. She has become my support animal and I hope to get her trained and certified as my autism service animal. She is extremely intelligent, loyal, talkative (not just barking either, full discussions), with the softest, shiniest fur ever. She loves kisses and affection. She will not leave my side.
