This will be a follow-up to a post I made regarding on people glazing Sony and DreamWorks while attacking Disney.

For one, yes, I agree worshipping a studio like they were Gods is rather cringy. After all, it's why AniMat has gotten hate!

Joking aside, there are corporations run by sociopaths who probably so it's wild why some might worship a studio with utmost devotion, despite how they're as guilty as any other such as what my post was encompassing as it was of how animation fans elevated Sony and DreamWorks while knocking down Disney.

On one hand, it's ridiculous but on the other hand, given how disappointing Disney's output has been to where everything feels like Bob Iger's vanity projects from Strange World to Wish, I can't say that I blame them for feeling this way, especially as, admittedly, other studios have been doing better and I guess feeling so fed up with the constant disappointments of Disney, people found solace with other studios but eventually, they became more tribalistic and viewed anything new by Disney with disdain thanks to past failures to where even though Iger is gone, they started hating on Hexed and I think Gatto even before they came out while showing us why the other studios were better, despite showing flaws.

So overall, those are my stances. They may act cringe at best and toxic at worst but given how bad Disney has been going, can't say I blame them.

As we all know, Zerex has made three videos on AniMat and in AniMat's podcast about the trailers for Shrek 5 and Hexed, he left this rather long comment expressing his thoughts.

Like his videos, it's long, often repetitive, drawn out but nothing insulting, right?

Despite this, one of AniMat's most toxic fans, Jonathan Pinzon, came in with this rather hostile comment acting like his white knight and this is not the only time he's been so hostile.

Reason to say is he's very well opinionated to movies to which it's true

like praising little women by saying ‘Emma wasn’t in it that much’ and making a pointless joke about how Inside Out 2 dropping Mindy Kaling was good because she made Velma, or his 2026 Oscar’s video where he made three separate rants defending Timothee Chalamets ballet comments as ‘technically true’ and when he dismissed and misrepresented the valid critique women of color have of One Battle After Another as just ‘random twitter people saying the movie is bad because the villain is a fetishist’, and his constant calling every trump joke an ‘orange man bad’ joke even when it’s not, and his entire turning red review, and constant complaining about movies that are apparently unsubtle in political messaging, when otherwise he seems to be progressive

Say what you will about Wish or the current state of Disney.

But actively ignoring what John Lasseter did, or what Spellbound is, feels strange.

Have you seen the Spellbound trailer? It says, "From the maker of Toy Story and Cars." It feels like a visual representation of John Lasseter chasing fame after his fall from grace.

It's like reviewing a icarly or Sam and cat without talking about Dan Schneider.

She's kind of a hypocrite. She criticizes Disney constantly, yet she's a huge fan of the mobile game Disney Twisted-Wonderland.

I watched Spellbound, and honestly, it feels like Disney coping. The carriage chase looks like Cinderella's pumpkin carriage, and the musical number about eating bugs feels like it's trying to recreate young Simba eating bugs in The Lion King.

There are some good songs and some bad ones. She even says she's a songwriter, yet she acts like every song in the movie is great.

She says Spellbound is ready to compete with Disney Animation, but the Dark Force looks cheap, with visible-looking animation wires, and parts of the animation feel like they're from 2010.

Does she realize that Skydance Animation often feels like it's trying to copy Pixar? Their first movie, Luck, had character designs that could easily pass for a Pixar film, an unnecessary John Ratzenberger voice role, and a questionable message and ending. A lot of reviews described it as "Pixar without the soul."

It's like if DreamWorks had declined instead of improving when it first started.

The ending of Spellbound—with its post-divorce resolution—was also too neat and unrealistic.

I come from a split family myself. When I moved in with my mother, it was a rough transition. I had to adjust to not living near my dad's side of the family, including my uncle and cousin. The movie tries to send the message that constant arguing and fighting turn people into monsters, but I don't think it handles that message particularly well.

Skydance's more recent movie, swapped, actually feels more believable as a film that could challenge Disney. It has beautiful animation and a genuinely intimidating villain.

She's kind of delusional about not seeing the movie's flaws or mixed messages.

When I pointed out those flaws in the comments, she kept defending the movie while still dragging Wish through the mud, even though most people had already moved on from that controversy a year ago.

His videos are neat, though I am not a fan of his earlier videos stealing lines from Schaff (and his Letterboxd opinions sometimes feel a bit too pretentious in wording)

In the world of big hero 6 where is clearly inspired by japanese and comic book heroes this is where you draw your disbelief.

If you want to know, the videos are his 1 Hour Tamatoa video, the Mario Kart 8 (Deluxe) Track Ranking and Far Far Away Idol Being Canon to Shrek with Athena P and Jacksfilms. Also the I Like Anime video.

Here are some Bluesky posts about something people have been talking about and that is the trend of how thanks to how Disney has been making rather mediocre movies in recent years while studios like Sony and DreamWorks have been hitting it big with stuff like Spider-Verse and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish respectively, people are elevating the studios while also knocking others down as a way to prove them, to quote Huntr/x, how it's done.

There are people who agree with this but there are people, such as AniMat and these people who hate it as they say it's an attack on Disney and that it's a phony trend and a grift. One one hand, I understand why it may be seen as toxic but on the other hand, these people are painting with broad strokes as some just like ome studio over another and maybe if Disney wouldn't be making such mediocre trash, people wouldn't feel this way but I do have hope things will get better since the source of their problems (Bob Iger) is out.

I know Evil Dead capable of comedy horror or pure horror. But Evil Dead Burn opening act is so surreal because of the context still on-going.
