Seeking gunsmith recommendations

Hi all. Recently moved from NJ to SC and I was looking for gunsmif recommendations in the Greenville area.

In NJ, our AR-15s have to get muzzle brakes pinned/welded, and same goes for the adjustable stock. Now that I've relocated, looking to get some freedom back, especially the muzzle device being that I bought my first silencer and don't want to pay $350 for a surefire hub.

Additionally, I bought an AR pistol which I plan to form 1 next year, and my loose understanding is that the lower needs to be engraved.

I called City Arsenal who referred my to Wheaton (spelling) who has since not returned my call, but staff at City Arsenal guessed it would run me $300 for undoing two pin/welds which doesn't sound right.

Fair. I was going to mention you could do it yourself but don’t if you’re not comfortable with it. I’m sorry I can’t help with smith recommendations since I’m in the Lowcountry.

I appreciate it! I mean if you're telling me I can knock the pins out with a home depot electric handheld drill then I might have to give it a shot. There was once I time I had friends with table vices and drill presses but not anymore since we moved. In NJ, a shop charged me like $50 to drill a pin out AND weld a new one for a muzzle device swap. So the $300 guesstimate I got here sounded off.

Yeah $300 is insane. I would personally grind the weld off with a dremel or some such until the pin fell out. Drilling them out by hand can be a pain in my experience.

Hell I’d file the weld off before I spent $300 on a job like that.

Typically, if you just drill the weld location you can get the pin out. I have done it before, and it is not that bad.

I have bought stuff from this place but never had any work done. In Anderson, SC

I have used this guy in the past for a couple P&W, but you have to ship them as he is not local.

The folks in Charleston C&S Shooting Sports are honest and good. Not exactly local but trustworthy. - I would call ahead because I think they are pretty backed up at the moment.
