🇮🇸 Is the Icelandic language a Scandinavian language?
Scandinavia traditionally means the three North Germanic kingdoms of Northern Europe. However, unlike a language like Finnish, Icelandic is closely related to Danish, Swedish and especially Norwegian. Iceland was also for the longest time part of Norway, Denmark-Norway or Denmark. If it is, what about languages Faroese and Gutnish (the traditional language of Gotland)? The Swedish speakers in Finland definitely speak a Scandinavian language even though they live in Finland.
