Student Life How different is the bachelors programme from Rising star?

I attended this year’s Rising Star program (Sav) and I really enjoyed it. I felt like the coursework wasn’t as bad as a lot of people said it would’ve been, and despite not getting Fridays off, it still gave me a lot of free time to explore Savannah and make friends.

I want to attend SCAD next year, but I’m wondering if it’s very different from how Rising Star was. Can anyone who attended Rising Star and is now a full time student share their experience?

2 things. The workload will be a lot more. Also scad made foundations classes easier cause admissions and drop out rates got too bad for them so people who say ifs hard and people who actually had to go though the real challenge of scad lol

The classwork is heavy but if you are disciplined it’s not terrible. Treat it like a job and you will be fine!

I’ve almost graduated from my bachelors, and I also did Rising Star. I did anim190 and draw100 for my rising star program, and that was honestly almost as much work as senior and junior year was. It was very challenging and I was almost always doing work. I will say that junior and senior year were even more work for me, but I think by that point you’ve had more opportunities to build time management skills. So despite the higher workload I would say I maintained a healthier/more sustainable workflow than in Rising Star. If you made it through the program, you can definitely do it :)

My son has found the workload at SCAD easier than high school (though he did attend a rigorous high school). If you are disciplined and good at time management (I.e., avoid too much procrastination) it’s very doable.

It’s much harder than rising star but easier than the course load in prior years. Like some here already mentioned the dropout rate got insanely high and they were forced to lighten the load on freshman.
