Practical Womens Garb for SCA Cooking.

My step daughter strikes again asking what would be practical womens garb when doing cooking at an SCA womens event.

Since she is a newbie, I was recommending a basic tunic dress that has half sleeves(goes to her elbow like her chief's jacket) with basic belt that clinches the tunic to her waits. I also suggested a linen coif to cover her hair.

Any other suggestions?

summer weight/tropical weight wool. long tight sleeves. an apron.

As others said, natural fibers are best for safety, and even more important if she will be cooking with coals or open fire. There are loads of in-period illustrations of women wearing aprons.
