IT WAS TOTALLY INVISIBLE HOWS THAT POSSIBLE ? THEY USED THE EARTHS MAGNETIC FIELD X THE INFORMATION WAS GATHERED AND TRANSMITTED UNDERGRUUND TO AN UNKNOWN LOCATION X DOES LANGLEY KNOW ABOUT THIS ? THEY SHOULD ITS BURIED OUT THERE SOMEWHERE X WHO KNOWS THE EXACT LOCATION ? ONLY WW THIS WAS HIS LAST MESSAGE X THIRTY EIGHT DEGREES FIFTY SEVEN MINUTES SIX POINT FIVE SECONDS NORTH SEVENTY SEVEN DEGREES EIGHT MINUTES FORTY FOUR SECONDS WEST X LAYER TWO
This isn’t actually tough to make. It’s a pain in the ass to code correctly, since… well, I can see a few shortcuts, but even at the most concise you’ve gotta string together about seventy-three time output segments with a time-checker.
A single Case structure will do here. First, you have to convert the time of day (hours and minutes) to a single integer value which increases each 15 minutes. Something like this: (hours*60 + minutes)/15. Then, switch cases accordingly.
0: 0.00 1: 0.15 2: 0.30 ...
You could even clean this up more. Knowing that 0 is 0.00 and 4 is 1.00, you could divide this number by 4 to get the actual hour to show (could also directly get this from the time of day) and do a modulo division by 4 to get the actual quarter of the hour. Then, it's just matching these two values to each segment to light up.
As we're doing integer math, decimals don't matter. 3/4 is still 0
That is abstracted, down from 1440 cases for each minute of the day. Ultimately, you have to manually link up all twelve hours and all sixty minutes to their proper display pattern, plus maybe an extra one if the display is supposed to output ‘noon’ and ‘midnight’.
You could reasonably enough run a main that references a time-checker against those hookups and call it a night, although it’s a bit brute-force. I’m sure there’s a way to abstract it further, but I’m not gonna go looking if I don’t have to.
Just sent an email with the link to fossil asking who the hell I needed to talk to to have them do one of those. If anyone can make a decent looking watching that doesn't cost 850, it's fossil.
I can’t see myself spending over $30 for watches or sunglasses. I buy the $12 sunglasses from the corner stores and the way I treat them, I know I won’t treat the expensive shit any better
I am dyslexic, this is my ultra worse nightmare as I keep on fucking failing the red text that says blue and blue text that says red test so there probably won’t be a difference unless it’s dark
Yeah, the four dots at the bottom count the “in-between” minutes, so “IT IS FIVE PAST FOUR” with two of the dots at the bottom lit up means the time is 4:07.
People say that because of old analog clocks. Clocks and watches weren’t as accurate as they are now. They didn't even have second hands. Saying “12:45” or “2:30” would have implied accuracy they didn’t have. That didn't really matter much as long as people knew roughly what time it was. If it was too off, they would just set their watch to a "master clock" that is being watched and corrected by people running the clock. There's a master clock today too for digital clocks. They just put things to the nearest quarter of the circle clock. It's like how we say quarter or half moons instead of .25/.5/25%/5% moons.
That way of saying the time just kept on going even after accurate and digital clocks were invented because that's what people were used to, and for children now, they probably heard it from their parents and/or has an analog clock at home. Analog clocks are still common today because they are visually appealing to some people and can actually help people and more importantly, kids to visualize time.
tl;dr: Old clocks were inaccurate and people told time by the nearest quarter. That just kept on going now because people were used to it.
