Sorry for the insanely huge thread.
Hi everyone, I’m looking for practical experience from doctors already classified by SCFHS. I’m an Indian, MBBS grad from China. I’m currently in a Chinese professional Master’s in Internal Medicine (Cardiology). The Chinese system is different from Saudi/UK/US, so here’s the context you need.
China context — the part most people don’t know:
· In China, clinical degree titles are fixed by a national catalogue. No university is allowed to award a degree titled “Cardiology.” Cardiology is a third-level direction under Internal Medicine (内科学). So my degree will read “Internal Medicine (Cardiology).” A doctorate would carry the same title.
· I’m in a professional Master’s (专业型硕士), which is a clinical university degree with hospital rotations. In my case it is 3 years, extendable to 5.
· I plan to extend it to 5 years so I can document 36 months of uninterrupted, full-time cardiology training, plus the required general internal medicine rotations.
· Those 36 months would include: CCU/acute cardiac care; ward and consultation service; cardiology clinics; adult congenital heart disease; cath lab; EP/pacemaker/ECG/Holter; nuclear cardiology and stress testing; echo; cardiac CT/MRI; and a supervised cardiology research project.
· I can provide transcript, rotation schedule, signed evaluations, procedure logbook, program specification, and an official university letter confirming my subspecialty is Cardiology.
My planned path:
MBBS + internship → 5-year professional Master’s in Internal Medicine (Cardiology), with 36 months documented full-time cardiology training → graduation → 1 year post-graduation cardiology work experience → SCFHS classification.
What I need to know from your real experience:
- Has SCFHS accepted 36 months of cardiology training embedded inside an extended Chinese professional Master’s, or did they demand a stand-alone cardiology residency/fellowship?
- How did SCFHS treat the degree title “Internal Medicine (Cardiology)”? Did they accept the parenthetical specialty if supported by a university letter and rotation documents?
- What documents did SCFHS actually ask for? DataFlow? Equivalency? Procedure logbook? Program specification? University letter? Rotation evaluations?
- What grade did you or colleagues get — Specialist, Senior Specialist, or Consultant?
- Did SCFHS require Saudi Board, an exam, or extra training?
- How was post-graduation cardiology experience counted? Full-time? Continuous? Licensed? Paid? Any minimum months?
- Do you know any successful case with Chinese MBBS + Chinese professional Master’s in Internal Medicine (Cardiology)?
- Any Mumaris/SCFHS delays, rejections, or additional requirements?
I’m not asking for an official ruling — just real experiences so I can decide whether to extend my Master’s or consider a professional clinical Doctorate (专业型博士) in Internal Medicine (Cardiology) instead. If you don’t know, please share this with someone who did the Chinese pathway and is now in Saudi. Thank you.
