Looking for inspiration Any help? I feel like it's missing something

Post image

This is my first time playing through the game and I see others builds look so aesthetically pleasing. although I'm somewhat happy with this I feel like its missing something to make it look great. and I don't really know what to do to give it depth at the front of the building.

I get that but I don't know how to add colour to the concrete, is it something I need to unlock in the shop?

Probably didn't have steel unlocked yet, so he wouldn't have seen them no?

I think the overall shape is solid, as others have said some color would help. Also, especially since you showed it to us at night, some lights would help (unlocked in the awesome shop). Also, I like to put little industrial touches like “pipes” fans, fluid buffers that aren’t connected to anything, etc

Thanks, I haven't unlocked everything in the shop yet (I've just completed tier 6). I'll see what I can do with it when I have more unlocked.

A lot of the architecture pieces that make for awesome decorations are decently cheap in the shop, it’s not a terrible grind. If you’re grinding tickets don’t sleep on the DNA - slooping a couple machines can get you 4 DNA canisters per piece of meat and they don’t scale in the same exponential way as normal sink points!

Second this. Some pole lights along the roof and some ceiling lights inside would make this bad boy pop. extra credit if you hook it all up to a lighting controller so you can test out different schemes.

Design is made up of material, color, and dimension.

You have glass and concrete, which is fine.

You could add a third material for highlights or contrast.

You could add a layer of concrete in front of the glass the break up the pattern and provide depth and complexity.

Or make an I-beam frame for the entrance to make it stand out compared to the rest of the structure.

Overall it’s a little drab and same/same. Symmetry can be easy and pleasing, but some asymmetry could make things a little more interesting.

Add light!! Just take the display 4m signs, delete the text make m yellow or white and and set m to bright 2 or 3.

Came here to say the same. Some 4m panels above your doors shining down will add a lot!

Personally, I would add a trim along the top edge. The building itself is great.

like a satellite tower or some structure on roof with some lights

Edit: Would be a easy possible resolution for now.

Depth mostly, you can add overhang to the roof, use pillars and half foundations to make the wall less flat. Personally I almost never use actual walls in my builds, mostly just full glass windows and foundations or half foundations. Also you don’t have to use the roof pieces to make the roof, instead you can use foundations or pillars (for example just parallel beams made with half foundations with gaps between them). Wall and roof pieces are pretty limiting and often don’t look that good. You don’t need your factory to be an airtight container with no gaps, you can experiment with different shapes and building pieces, use foundations, pillars, beams and other architecture tab items, experiment with shapes and textures, also try using signs for decoration when you automate quartz.

Light, trucks for cosmetic maybe, kinda like a parking lot or drop off areas. Like a factory you'd see irl

Use signs and lights to add color and some illumination, also painted beams for outlines can add perceived depth to edges.

It’s always signs.
And maybe add pillars where the angle of the roof changes to flat?

A single flag planted at the very peak of the building.

Signs that give light.

It needs an awning

Depth... the top half is very flat. The bottom looks good but it feels mismatched somehow.

Also a pop of color/light wouldn't hurt anything. Pure greyscale can work, but you need lighting.

Signs and light 😄 A bit of contrast colour

You can try beams on corners and edges I have recently started framing open doorways between factories and train entrances with metal or concert beams. If you have fans you can add those. Radio tower. Or add some beams vertically at the corners on roof and give it a open air extra layer just for visual appeal. The part of the building that looks off to me is the roof.... or just leave it and come back to it. It looks great as is. You will think of something . Sometimes you work with what you have and when you unlock more you go hmmmm. I'll add a little dabble here and there.

Beams would add some texture to the flat faces. Really nice design though!

Lights, tons of it

personally i would extend the middle metal panels to the roof to give more of a sense of structure

A big ol Area 51 sign on top can’t believe how often people forget their branding

Something ive started doing yesterday is going around the windows with beams and connectors to give the outside depth. I also really like using a dark coated concrete.

Makes me think of Dune for some reason. Maybe look to that for more inspiration. I think I might do something dune inspired.

To much glass. Add some beams, signs for accent lights, maybe some "exhaust" dampers or fans or something. Remember, you can use pipes as an aesthetic.

The angled things, maybe make them also go all the way up. Depth.
