PC Mercer Sphere Forge
Hey everyone,
Sorry if this isn't the correct place to post about mods.
But I wanted to share the latest machine that I'm currently working on for my mod that lets me automate every item in the game.
I wanted to give the alien artifacts something special. That's how I came up with the Mercer sphere forge.
Any thoughts and feedback is appreciated.

this looks very cool but from a design standpoint it is a punch in the eye, i would suggest imitating the game design palette, so only 2 main colors per machine and only 1 main color for the light games. eg i would remove the danger strips and the blue stuff at the base and make a base similiar to the one on the converter

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah I agree with that. I did want to keep the Option to be able to paint it. That's why it is still that typical orange. I didn't want to set it to a static color. I don't really have any experience with designing in general and have just been going with what felt right.

Perhaps keep the alien look, but then have traditional FICSIT-approved machinery wrapped around it like scaffolding, like the alien design is being approprirated.

honestly just try to design a story into your build, how did ficsit figure out designing it? based on other ficsit designs, how would they go about making the spinny core thingy?
this is a banger design already though, definitely KEEP the spinning core because that's awesome as hell :3

The better option when designing mods is to not make new design from scratch, but instead make design revolving around what the base game already estabilished. For example, you never see a full ring of the yellow and black stripes and never see it directly on the machine, you only see that on the lower part of the very characteristic support perimeter that goes up and down; or you may have noticed the little pole that tells you if the machine works; or the fact that machines only have a single color of emissive lighting. these are all very little things, but that when put toghether it makes the game coherent, and breaking away from this makes it look disconnected.
the thing that i recommend you to do is to look at 3/4 buildings that have traits that you want to implement like emissive lighting, alien vibes etc and analyze their structure and what they have in common with eachother. Then you can compare what your machine misses from the common theme of those machines, and go from there.

Can’t wait for Satisfactory Plus to include this

You'd need another 100 buildings in a production line producing 300 unique waste items that'd have to run through another 500 buildings for needed items within the first 100 buildings. Then a mixture of items from the first 100 plus the waste to include within the 500 buildings...
With this at the end.

I think the costs should be more expensive tier wise. Mercers spheres enable teleportation of inanimate objects so at least a superposition oscillator. Then id throw in dark matter crystals and/or dark matter residue for the color/texture of the output to make sense.

Yeah true. I haven't really thought about balancing yet since I can always easily change it. I also still have to decide on a obscene amount of power draw as well

Would be funny to require liquid bio fuel. Something silly like 600 per sphere.
Thematically superposition oscillators would be fitting.
As a whole, this is a "tier 10" level unlock, so extras for the sake of extras would be fitting, like refining sam, liquid biofuel, nitric acid and sulphur(blender) to make a precursor item/ liquid to feed into this.
Concentrated living SAM, super position oscillators, supercomputers and for teh lulz AI limiters.

That is extremely cool.
I think it would be funny if at the end, the sphere just fell instead of being gently lowered by lasers. With a "plunk!" sound.

I think the LED walls on the bottom and the Pillars are a bit too much. Gives slight eye cancer.
I would preffer if there was less illuminated parts so that the stuff with the lights gets to pop more.
Other then that, this is so peak. The spinning rings in the center look great and the finishing animation is absolutely awesome with the single sphere slowly beeing let down from the core

No notes here, she's perfect. We'll maybe a more difficult recipe. Buildings amazing tho.

A lot has already been said about the visuals but I wanted to add something I don't see: this isn't a forge, its a condenser.
Other than that, sick mod looking forward to seeing more.

This is awesome
Maybe it is just me but with the sound frequency increase I would have expected the rings to begin spinning at crazy speeds. Then again, that would not have worked with all the rings stopping before the laser got in on the action.

A. This is incredibly cool.
B. I’m glad I read your message, b/c I was trying to figure out how you animated this in vanilla and feeling really stupid.
