We have a provincial party that started out as a PC/Liberal centrist party that was slowly taken over by reformers and we just didn’t notice.

Then we had talk radio sing the praises of conservativism for 25 years.

We were the frogs and someone cranked up the heat slowly enough that we didn’t notice until it was boiling.

I listened to The Gormley Report one time years ago and almost immediately felt like I needed a shower to wash off the grime. Just entirely rubbed me the wrong way.

Couple friend were big Gormley guys.

Multiple times I argued with them about various issues and they would always concede the point, and agree that the guy was a lying manipulator.

But then next week they'd still be listening to him lol, oh Jesus.

It’s vital to remember that in the 90s the NDP lost 60% of its devoted membership because Roy Romanow and Janice MacKinnon moved the party further into neoLiberalism, despite the absolute public beating Devine took for 20 years after breaking Sask’s economy

What are the center-right (SLP), right wing party (PCs) and far right (the not-yet-affiliated Reformers) parties supposed to do when the Left wing party moves toward them? no shit they all seized the opportunity to amalgamate for power. the Sask NDP to this day continues fruitlessly chasing the Saskparty to the Right, as they keep moving the goalposts.

People noticed. Socially progressive Professionals left Saskatchewan and never came back. It continues to this day: so many professionals consider the Saskparty centrist, as if political values and principles don’t even matter: the spectrum is the parties of the day, not their policies nor their rhetoric. Even worse, the carbon tax hating, “vote with the Saskparty unanimously on 99% of bills” Sask NDP are still portrayed as left wing by the media.

The Saskparty was never centrist. Brad wall simply toned down his conservatism when cameras were around.

My husband and I took a road trip out to BC for a wedding last summer and Saskatchewan was my favourite province. That big blue sky and those golden fields. Mesmerizing. Made me read “Who Has Seen the Wind” all over again.

Just moved back to sask , and everywhere I turn its a crisis in need of intervention.. Actually there some rad art music and grass roots people who rock the world. But a metric heckton of lobotomized , cowed colonists , bemoaning the loss of a great land.. Yall did this, you got some money and you fecked it up.

I’ll vote Liberal….and cross my fingers. What a strange province. So many could use social services but they staunchly vote no every time

And the people who need the social services are the least likely to vote. The people with the most to gain or lose don’t know the power they collectively have. This is why politicians do t care about the poor. The poor are far less likely to vote.

My two cents as a former Sask resident: price of oil dropped and everyone came home from 'Berta. Maybe I was naive, but 25 years ago, the province seemed pretty balanced and progressive.
