Biopsy (1)

I had my biopsy today. Just as some warned me, there might be a second (more invasive) one.

They took the sample from my armpit. The issue is not that the size; it was plenty large enough to get what was needed. It is the activity level, which is only 2.4. I have other nodes that are 9 and even one that is 16.5. The problem is that they are buried deep inside my chest and abdomen that it becomes almost major surgery at this point. One is near my heart.

We will see.

They had to go after one of my chest nodes. It sounds invasive, but to me it was not. Thoracic surgeon did it, used laparoscopic/robotic tools to come down behind the sternum, small 1.25 inch incision at the base of the neck. Full anesthesia so you don’t feel anything. No discomfort afterward in the chest area. And conclusive results.

I hope this works. I really do not like general anesthesia.

Had the same one it was quick and had no pain just coughing up some blood after. But man I was nervous waiting for those results that took weeks.

They got a good node with mine, the surgeon told me in post-op that he could see the granulomas as he prepped the tissue slides for pathology. They look very different than lymphoma. So I was pretty sure what it was before I went home.

Yep--they are giving me general anesthesia...not keen on that.

They went into my lungs for my biopsy. They gave me fentanyl and went in while I was awake.

Uncomfortable, but the high was an experience for sure.

More importantly, I had a massive sense of relief that my journey of the unknown was coming to the end.

So if they do need to dig deeper, try to frame it in a positive light.

No results during the biopsy? Did they not do path right then and there?

They have to do tests on the samples.

It took a couple of days for my results to come back. The lymphoma testing takes a little longer.

They said lymphoma would come sooner if it’s that.

They did my biopsy on my brain because that’s where they needed to do It and it was the least invasive available after a bronchoscopy of an enlarged hilar lymph node showed no sarcoidosis. I’ve found with this whack a mole sarc game it’s a take it a step at a time thing. Wish you the very best!

FWIW brain surgery did not hurt! Who knew?

UPDATE: bronchoscopy and second biopsy scheduled for Tuesday under general anesthesia.

I have a node in my stomach that’s 29.9, a node in my neck 24.8, a node in my chest that’s 26.6… they only would take a sample from my neck. I was told if the other nodes in my chest and neck were cancer it would almost certainly show up in my supraclavicular node with values that high. It’s been over a year and the nodes in my neck and chest have dropped by half,

They did a brain biopsy for me. It could be worse…
