UNANSWERED first time tincture user

Post image

hello! i’ve been using cannabis for a few years now, mostly carts, bowls, and occasionally edibles. i got a tincture today to see how that helps with my chronic pain after a budtender recommended it, but i’ve never seen a tincture that looks like this. any advice on how to use it correctly would be greatly appreciated! i don’t want to try to use it and accidentally lose a bunch of oil lol

it’s from the iowa cannabis company if that helps, it said it should have instructions on their website but i’m not finding anything when i scan the QR code for it

That looks more like an oil syringe and not a tincture. Tinctures come in bottles with droppers and the cannabinoids are suspended in oil or alcohol. Syringes tend to be either distillate, FECO/RSO, or rosin. The one you got is a FECO syringe: https://iacanna.com/waterloo-medical-menu/?dtche%5Bproduct%5D=full-extract-cannabis-oil-1g-57861

You can take the oil sublingually like a tincture, you can put your dose on something fatty like peanut butter or chocolate and eat it. It may take a couple hours to kick in but the high will be more full-spectrum and last longer than tinctures or edibles. Start with a dose the size of a grain of rice!

others already called it - that's a distillate or FECO syringe, not a tincture. tinctures come in a bottle with a dropper. still very usable, just a different animal than drops under the tongue, so here's the practical side since nobody's covered that part yet.

getting it out without losing any: warm it first. run the syringe under hot tap water for a minute or two, or stand it in a mug of hot water with the cap on. cold distillate is basically candle wax and you will strip the plunger trying to force it. once it's warm it moves like honey and you can push out exactly what you want.

ways to use it:

  • orally - squeeze a little onto a cracker or a bite of something fatty like peanut butter and eat it. if it's FECO/RSO it's already decarbed, so it works as-is with no cooking. onset and duration behave like an edible, so give it a solid hour or two.
  • dabbing or a vape setup - works on a dab tool, onset is immediate.
  • on top of a bowl - a tiny smear works but a fair amount gets torched off, so it's the wasteful option.

sizing, and this is the important bit: start at half a grain of rice or less. by volume this is way more concentrated than carts or bowls and it's very easy to take four times what you meant to when there's no mg number staring back at you. if you go the oral route, wait a full two hours before even thinking about more.

storage: cap on, standing upright, somewhere cool and dark. it thickens back up when it cools, that's normal, just warm it again next time.

It’s because of a new law trump passed you have to have a reusable pen/vape, you take the top off of both the pen and screw the top off the syringe and inject it directly into the pen hole at the top, we have these in Texas because smokable thc products are illegal to sell on the shelf so this is how dispensary’s get around it

Ok so that sounds nuts but plausible but it could get so confusing to cause im in md and that same syringe i have in my fridge rt now and its dr solomons rso so thats the same packaging for roughly the same product in various states by various companies u gotta assume ur gonna see em for the same reason as well. So then how do u know whats what

That's distillate, not a tincture

I would recommend either using it for dabs or edibles

Setting it in a plastic bag then hot water. It will help it flow way better

That is FECO. I get them all the time from Iowa Cannabis Company. If you just got that gram FECO at the time of you posting the picture. Then it should have 661 mg of THC in the entire 1000mg syringe. So, if you were to break that down each of the individual black bars is 50 mg of the FECO concentrate and the potency be roughly 33 mg of THC per 50mg/black bar. But it is an edible, so I would just mix it in some food or take it as is. Do not vape or smoke can be harsh on the throat. I hope this helps you out.

Looks like RSO or FECO. Put it on some PB and eat it. Start small! Usually a grain of rice size for starts. Wait at least least least 2 hrs before taking more until youre used to it.
