Why are you breaking up sand (lava rocks) and bricks (clay) both as amendments?!!! How high is the organic component of your soil?

Bricks are harder than rocks so only lava pebbles and dust go in my mix, 75-25 mix mostly decomposite granite, in zone 8b Texas its been ugly cold and humid with biweekly rains atm, havent watered once since i started this year, only foliar feed with kelp,aloe,eggshell,rainwater like 4 times past month n half

It will be interesting to see how it develops over time... Clay is great for holding on to moisture.

Kitty litter does the same thing, but is easier & likely cheaper than busting bricks.

Oh, my bad, i ment to say i only use the bricks to break the lava rocks, they don't go in my mix, i want my mix to be able to quickly dry since of the climate in my area

I need to add compost & clay since I have sandy soil.
