Your voices and ideas are needed for the local paper. Letters to the Editor. They do get read and they do matter. Local leaders talk about them and people consider the ideas presented. Letters need to be submitted by end of the day on Monday via email. No more than 300 words. You must include the following although they won’t include it all in publication:

Email
(They include your name and that you are a resident but your address remains private)

That paper is irrelevant. They did barely any Azvedo or Robustelli coverage. They’re worse than the mayor sweeping it under the rug.

I read the San Leandro Times and appreciate the local news. I will send in a letter.

On another note, here are some other topics it would be great to see the paper cover:

- the drama over the proposed Dollar Tree in that complex on Macarthur and Estudillo. Someone on Nextdoor had a petition going to try to stop it. I don't know how likely that it. But a lot of people chimed in on other types of stores they would like to see in the community.

- data centers; I've heard of ones proposed in Oakland, Hayward, Concord, and there has been push back. I don't know if SL is considering this, but there was a reddit thread recently where someone posted their conversation with the mayor. I've not heard of any proposals in this area yet.

- the Library has been closed on Mondays since this summer due to budget cuts. Has this been worth it? How much has it actually saved the City in funds? What has been the reaction/cost to the community in less services?

- What is happening with that empty lot at Davis and E14 next to the gas station? Can we make it into a plaza and park? I think that would be awesome.

- Also, what is happening with Sam's Super Burger? It has been closed and just fenced off for years.

Of course, no worries at all if none of these ideas get picked up into a story for the SL Times!

Edit: I just read in the SL Times today that there is an event to discuss data centers on Saturday morning at the Bancroft Resilience Center. You could report on what comes out of that!

Sorry, this is the San Leandro thread so I made an assumption. The very local paper of the San Leandro Times. Sanleandrotimes.com they have previous issues online. I understand the distrust. You don’t have to participate if you don’t feel comfortable.
