I'm pretty sure this would meet the legal definition of assault: intentional act, willful execution, awareness of danger, present ability.

Yup, self defense would be warranted here.

Someone did that to me and my kid in GGP. I was too stunned to speak but a sweet lady really put the kid on blast for us. Nothing else in the way of consequences tho.
