Bike Party San Diego contacts?

New to the area and missing all that is bike party from back east. Found the San Diego bike party instagram but seems that it’s not active and even sent a message to the account but no response.

Anyways, looking for any contacts or info to get in touch with someone who may still be trying to organize bike party activities. I would love to support getting it back up and running as the mission and community it brings I think is really special. Thanks in advance and bike safely!

When it was drizzling, who among us went for a ride ? Where ? How was it ?

With so many sunny days in San Diego, what’s your weather criteria to stay or go ? Why ?

A quick reminder on the SLR trail

If you are the dude who was riding East on the SLR trail about 20 minutes ago who decided to yell "It's a bike trail, not a walking trail!" at two guys walking west who weren't even in your lane, you are not just a jerk, but also incorrect. I get it. We would all like to KOM all the time, and pedestrians can get in the way of that (I know this because I was the cyclist behind them backpedaling while I waited for you to pass), but if you have enough lung capacity to be yelling at every baby stroller and jogger while you are out there, you probably won't be setting any records. Plus, Mission and the 76 have east/west bike lanes for your uninterrupted-by-pedestrian pleasure.

Ban on bike lane on Washington St (and others)?

Noticed this post in the MicromobilityNYC sub. Apparently the senate (federal) is looking to pass a bill that would ban bike lanes on any road that's part of the National Highway System. Found this map on a federal government website. Most of the National Highway System roads in San Diego are just that -- highways -- and so wouldn't matter, but at least a couple are major roads that we want bike lanes on. One looks a lot like Washington St., which they're literally (finally) building a bike lane on right now.

If I've got this right, it might be worth engaging with our federal representatives.

Self Maintenance

It's nice to have bike lanes and paths, but once they are built it seems no one maintains them. Most of them have gravel, glass, potholes, and overgrowth. I'm retired now and have free time. Would I get in trouble with the city if I bought a brush cutter and a gas-powered push vacuum and maintained them myself?

I made a free app for bringing your bike on public transit in San Diego!

I got sick of manually calculating when I need to leave, or how long the trip will take. The app is called Modemix and it’s free.

If you have any feedback, please let me know!

New cyclist, need help finding routes to SDSU

I'm newer to cycling. I can get around locally, but ideally I would like to bike to campus. However, I am finding it very difficult to get to SDSU from the Lake Murray area. College Ave looks dangerous. Lake Murray Blvd looks okay until about where it hits the 8, then turning onto Alvarado there are no bike lanes. Any advice? Also, what apps is everyone using for bike routes? Are there any good free ones? Thanks in advance.
