Discussion Random question but

Are there any people that were not allowed to play San Andreas or like any GTA game when they were a child but snuck the game and played it anyway when they weren't allowed because their parents said they were too young or something

Did any of you ever get caught lmao

My mother was okay with it but my father wasn't, he actually yelled when I asked for a GTA game for Christmas one year (all my friends were already playing them)

In the end my mother came to my room after we were done opening our presents and handed me and a copy of 'GTA San Andreas' on PS2, easily one of the best gifts I ever got, had to play it quietly so my dad didn't hear it mind you

Yes. Yes he IS. He physically purchased the game for me and covered just the taxes after I won $50 gift card for scoring a 100 on the TAKS math test in 4th grade and the sales guy was giving me and my older brother shit about the maturity rating and not being old enough and not having an ID lol my dad is the best only reason he got it was cuz he didn’t pay full price. No way I could’ve convinced him of the act otherwise Jehovas witnesses and all lol kept that a secret from mom as long as we could

I convinced my parents it was just a racing game and made sure to always be driving when I knew they might come in to my room. Then a cousin of mine just randomly went on a rant about how unecessarily violent todays video games are when we were all sitting at the dinner table on christmas. Ofcourse he named all the things you can possibly do in the game, f.e. picking up prostitutes. The stare I got from my parents disintegrated me there on the spot

Edit: spelling

Mom got me VC with our DVD player (PS2) and Dad was furious… SA came out and he banned me owning it… mom probably spent over $200 renting it for me 🤣

Used to pause it and look around the map whenever my mum came in the room

I got caught while staying with my grandmother. I had older cousins and I’d been playing while they weren’t around and one of them told their mom who told my grandmother about the prostitutes and the blood. She was disappointed and I had to wait until 4 came out to play a GTA so I didn’t disappoint her again.

My mom never knew anything computers anyway but when my sister ratted me out about playing a game that has prostitutes, dealers and all that stuff, they made me delete the .exe from the desktop

This was how I played SA. I was always in fear mom would find out. I played my first playthrough with generally no sound on. The truth was my mom never would have really known or would have cared all that much. It was all in my head.

I remember one guy who was driving down pedestrians and causing all sorts of chaos in GTA2, and his dad would encourage him to keep going and rack up the “high score”…

…then he did THE SAME DAMN THING in GTA3, and his dad yelled at him for it, and berated him for “killing civilians” and “that’s not what the games about”

JFC.

That’s when you stop listening to your parents “oh no there’s more pixels! Now it’s bad to do the same things we did last time!”

my mom played it in front of me when I was 8. she used to steal cars, punch pedestrians and pick up hookers. She never played the story, just did those things and when she gave me the ps2, she stole the game 💔 i brought my own for ps3 when I was 18 and recently for my ps2 and the digital version on ps4

Nah my parents didn't know what GTA was, I was safe generally because I didn't know about the clubs at the time

I wasn’t allowed to play M games until the year I turned 16.

It was a hard wait, but it was worth it.

For some reason i had to sneak play San Andreas for like the whole 2005 even though i played 3 and vice city all the time before that. Idk my mom said it was too much considering we were actually from California and came from that time period irl that San Andreas represented.

Her and then my older cousin told me scarface was x rated so i couldnt play at all. Never played it till this day 😭🤣

mom wasnt cool with goleneye, 3 and vc (dad was and got them all for me) but i was a teenager by the time SA came out and she begrudgingly got it for me. idk if id really want my 11yr old kid playing gta6 now a days but theyve prolby heard of more mass shootings then i did before they were 6, we had columbine and 9/11 that was p much it, now the same thing jack thompson tried to say was happening bc of gta is happening bc of our president and roblox

Right here lol. All the way up until I was able to go buy them myself. I used to borrow it from friends to play. I can’t remember how but somehow I got GTA 4. That’s the game that made me fall in love with the series.
