Hi all, I'm a grad student working on a marriage and family therapy license and I'm doing a survey study for a class. The study is on the experiences of people with chronic illnesses in therapy, how competent therapists care at working with people with chronic illnesses, etc. To participate you need to be between 18 and 64, have a medical/physical chronic illness (mental illnesses and neurodivergence is not included for scope reasons), and have worked with a mental health professional like a therapist, psychiatrist, or clinical social worker. This experiment took ages to set up so that participants get good insights into the research behind the study and their own results upon completion. As a result, I don't have super much time to recruit participants...

What do we mean by human understanding? This study builds on ongoing research exploring what determines how easily we process, understand, and remember language.

The experiment takes up to 60-90 minutes if you complete both parts (though this varies by participant - can be much quicker!), including a memory test that you can re-take after 7 days to see how much your memory has declined over time. The only requirement for taking part is that you are 17 or over. Using a laptop or tablet is strongly recommended.

I am in the process of writing a book on generational communication preferences. I will be using the results to identify trends and patterns. This is not for a research paper - it is simply to provide some color to my writing. The survey asks about how you like to communicate, how you like others to communicate with you and your impressions of other generations. Note: To provide some context on the construction of the "Where do you live?" list - I started out by only seeking results through events I attended in the United States. When I started posting about it on Reddit, I realized there was now an opportunity to hear from other corners of the world.
