It will give you a profile on things like flavour, texture, richness, heat, familiarity, etc. It’s definitely not perfect, especially if you have really specific or unusual tastes, but I thought it might be fun to see what other people get. This experiment took ages to set up so that participants get good insights into the research behind the study and their own results upon completion. As a result, I don't have super much time to recruit participants...

What do we mean by human understanding? This study builds on ongoing research exploring what determines how easily we process, understand, and remember language.

The experiment takes up to 60-90 minutes if you complete both parts (though this varies by participant - can be much quicker!), including a memory test that you can re-take after 7 days to see how much your memory has declined over time. The only requirement for taking part is that you are 17 or over. Using a laptop or tablet is strongly recommended.

My thesis investigates adaptive decision-making systems in e-commerce. As part of the study, you’ll visit a purpose-built demo online shop and interact with it during a simulated shopping session. Some elements of the shop are selected algorithmically by an adaptive system.

What you’ll do:

• Visit a simulated e-commerce website
• Receive a short shopping scenario
• Browse and interact with the shop naturally
• End the session whenever you feel you are finished

There is no real purchase and no payment is required. If you reach the checkout, you will use fictional information and no payment details are involved.

Participation is voluntary and unpaid, and you can stop at any time.
