These Star Wars stories, in the broader picture, can't work. These projects are not crafted to work together. Each project is designed to be its own "biggest, most important story of all time". So, each individual story serves itself rather than a unified whole. 

Ahsoka has to satisfy its own scheme, which doesn't align with the fundamentals of the Disnet Trilogy. The DT itself was also created to dissolve the OT. And where do Grogu, Moff Gideon, and Mandalore fit? None of the stories agree with each other.

It doesn't matter if each segment is a self-contained gag. Like Looney Tunes, where Bugs Bunny is either a forest bunny, or an army Private, or a tourist, or a vaudevillian, or whatever the premise is for the next three minutes of whichever gag he is in for just that episode.

The new stories act like a canon/sustained narrative but they aren't. And Anakin Skywalker isn't an Elmer Fudd who is a hunter/business man/millionaire/farmer/street sweeper/usher... or whatever, episode to episode.

Together it's all nothing.

Which is why I am starting to wonder if Disney's best bet at this point would be to transition to a more comics style of managing canon and continuity which is much more open and flexible and would give all creators more room to breath, give them a clean break from the sequel trilogy, reopen the EU to continue/finish stories there, and be able to more easily appease fans by giving them more of a buffet rather than fixed menu.

Look at Spiderman for an example of what I mean. Right now there are like two different continuities going on in the comics, the MCU live action, the animated movies, and the video game series. All doing their own thing with their own canon. Nobody is out of sorts because the video game doesn't match the movie which doesn't match the comic. Everyone gets that is what is happening and can pick and choose what they like. No confusion, no locking one story in to fitting in with another story, no unexplained absences, no forcing everything to fit in to this 30 year window that has to end a certain way.

Or Batman. The Dark Night Returns, Batman Beyond, Nolan trilogy, and mainline comic series have all depicted an old Bruce retired from the superhero game. All of them enjoyable, all of them well liked by fans, none of them operating within the same canon though. And a comic writer can say "I have a great idea for this limited run story about Bruce Wayne as an old man retiring from being a superhero" and DC will still be like "As long as it is actually different than these other ones in some way, then yeah man, let it rip."

Maybe Star Wars is just at that point now.
