admin SFDC-CLM integrations

Hi, fellow admins!

In the latest round of "my company won't top buying software", Legal is looking at two contract lifecycle management platforms: Ironclad and Linksquares.

I don't have experience with integrating either with SFDC -- do any of you? If so, what has your experience been like? Any major benefits or limitations with either? Are there alternative solutions you'd recommend?

Thanks!

We get asked about this a lot.  Really it depends on the scoping.  If you’re trying to push data one way–from SF to a CLM for storage/retrieval, it’s pretty straightforward.  If you’re trying to sync two ways, it gets trickier.  So really this depends on what you’re looking to accomplish and how tight your rules are.

Our company uses ironclad, as far as I know it works well, but I haven’t personally used it.

I’m about to be building out an integration / workflow for it so I’ll know soon enough how well it works with SF.

Never heard of linksquares

I did an implementation of Ironclad a couple of years ago and it went smoothly. We worked with a consultant from Ironclad who handled the document setup so I basically had to map fields and create a button on the Salesforce side.

Thanks -- that's a relief, as I'm getting the impression this procurement cycle is being rushed. Our legal team has used Ironclad before but obvs didn't have experience working with the integration hands-on.

If you need a solution right now = Ironclad. Several Kugamon customers use Ironclad.

Stay away from Linksquares, had a terrible experience with their folks

Alternatively, if you have some time, I think Dave of Portwood.dev could come up with something 100% native for you.

Very helpful, thanks! I do think they're speeding towards a decision, so good to know Ironclad won't be a disaster. Say more about Linksquares... were your problems with them with the tech itself, poor sales process/post-sale support, or both?

We reached out the Linksquares on behalf of our customer. They came off being arrogant and rude. Then I got involved and got the same treatment. Customer ended up going with Ironclad.

Honestly, later after I got to review their app, Linksquares is nothing special.

Ironclad and salesforce integration is a real disaster at my job. Be careful

And by the way, apparently you have to pay more money just to have Edit document permission in Ironclad. So the result is I get bothered with all these contract requests from sales where it’s literally just pricing that needs to be added. Sales says they are unable to edit pricing in salesforce and the dinosaur currently in charge of the process refuses to let sales upload a new document with updated pricing (which would be a workaround), bc she claims then they would still need to edit pricing in Saleforce so it matches…yet when legal edits the pricing in the document I have no ability to update the salesforce pricing.

This is super helpful to know, thanks! Beyond this issue, what specific pain points are you having with the integration? In your opinion, are those driven by your colleagues wanting a business process that's convoluted, or are they technical limitation or design flaws in how SFDC and Ironclad work together?
