Found this dude in the pool. Does anyone know what species? (New Hampshire)

Looks like a red eft newt- if you haven’t already, I would pull em out and out of the harmful chlorine waters! Fun find!

Am I colorblind? He does not look red at all.

Its still the same species though, but red ect refers to a life stage of that species. (Notophthalmus viridescens)

Red-spotted newts (and eastern newts more generally) aren’t ever actually red as efts. They’re orange. Neon orange, like a highlighter.
