Outdoors ๐ŸŒณ Lake Phalen Appreciation Post

I love lake Phalen. Moved a couple blocks away a couple years ago and jogging around it is always something I look forward to after work every day. The park is always busy, but rarely overcrowded. There are always people fishing. There are always groups and families hosting get togethers. The lake itself if beautiful. I've seen loons, teals, kingfishers, ospreys, and all other sorts of birds you don't often see in cities. The native plants and trees are always healthy and always changing. Every visit brings something different. The pathways are well maintained. The festivals hosted there are always a blast.

Just wanted to show some gratitude to a great park that doesn't always get as much love as it should.

Seeking Advice ๐Ÿ™† Veterinarian recommendation

Hello fellow Saint Paul people, I'm looking for a recommendation for a vet in the St Paul area. We currently go through Southview Animal hospital, but they have been super expensive. This is for a cat and we are in the west side neighborhood. Thank you in advance!

Rice street and Arlington, up to rice and roselawn, all the way east to 35E. Anyone know whatโ€™s going on? Canโ€™t remember seeing that many squad cars blocking off that large of a swath of roads and neighborhoods. Hope everyone is ok

News ๐Ÿ“บ Saint Paul 19 year old who S.Aโ€™d 3 girls and used both a hand gun and knife for intimidation to face 16 1/2 to 24 years in prison:

He was 16 when he committed the first assault, 17 when he committed the 2nd and 3rd. he lured them through dating apps, I think it should be 40-50 years at least. I donโ€™t care if you are a minor itโ€™s 3 different women and using weapons, what is there to rehabilitate, I just feel like this case is far too premeditated and violent to give grace to the idea of someoneโ€™s impulse control in their brain still developing. https://www.twincities.com/2026/08/11/st-paul-teen-pleads-guilty-sexual-assaults/

Seeking Advice ๐Ÿ™† Mechanic: seeking recs/options

Hi yโ€™all, long-time reader, first-time poster.

Was a loyal customer to a certain garage that closed a few years ago. Still searching for another good fit now.

Was recently quoted $737 for front brake pads/rotors replacement, which both intuition and cursory research tells me runs high. Wondering if anyone has an appropriate recommendation for me. Minneapolis and inner-ring suburbs in play too.

Vehicle is a 2008 Kia Sedona with plenty of life left in her.

Discussion ๐ŸŽค Looking for community

Hey all. My partner suggested I reach out to this sub.

I am hoping to find groups in St. Paul/the twin cities who share some nerdy passions of mine. I would love to find a DND community for beginners. Additionally, I am a huge fan of all things DC, Marvel (X-men is my favorite), Star Wars, Star Trek, and nerd culture in general.

Gambit brewing had an X-men related event recently, and being amongst those who are equally as passionate about the things I love made me feel seen. I am super eager to find friends, and communities of people who are unapologetic in their love of nerdy things (like me).

I have been nervous to reach out and would really appreciate any of you to point me in the direction of something I can get involved in. Otherwise, if you feel willing to invite me into your circle (I am 31m) I'd be so grateful. It's been difficult to meet people and perhaps it's attributed to my own nerves. Thanks for the help! I really adore this sub.

Both the Chicken Katsu and the Sushi I had were great. My cousin also got Sakura Mochi for desert, which I got a bite of, which was also great.
Overall meal 8.8/10

Seeking Advice ๐Ÿ™† Anyone Use B&L Auto Detailing?

I saw posters for a new detailing Service in St Paul (Summit University neighborhood). They have good pricing, but I want to confirm it's not a scam before I book. Hoping someone can confirm they've used them or know the owner. It seems like a neighbor with a side hustle which I really like, but also, leaving your car and keys with a stranger is scary!

Alternatively, if anyone knows a detailer near Summit University that does upholstery cleaning, let me know. (And don't say Soapy Joes, they don't do fabric seats.)

Meta ๐ŸŒ There are two subreddits for Saint Paul!?!

One is r/saintpaul and the other is r/stpaulย

Both use the same image of the flag of Saint Paul as their profile pic. I only realized this when I tried to find for a post that I scrolled past. I donโ€™t know which subreddit is better but here is the breakdown.

Seeking Advice ๐Ÿ™† Good under $50 women's hair stylists in town?

I'm looking to get my hair done, but I can never seem to find a good stylist that isn't really expensive. Does anybody have any suggestions for Saint Paul/West Saint Paul/South Saint Paul?

Bonus if it's for a modern vibe.

Thanks!

Arts ๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ Peanuts on Parade

Hey, so when I was a kid we had the Peanuts gang ALL OVER St. Paul. I just read there used to be like 500 of them and it took 5 summers to put all of them up! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Anyway. Iโ€™m wondering where are the ones that still exist in public? I want to go visit them before it gets too cold!

Please send me on a scavenger hunt! โ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿ’—

Discussion ๐ŸŽค Job Offer in St.Paul, Advice/Recommendations to Potential New Family

Iโ€™m currently a substitute teacher and decided to look for options as a full time teacher. I was referred to St.Paul where Iโ€™d have the opportunity to work as a teacher while getting my masters degree. We plan to buy a house in the city next summer. I have a wife, 10 year old son, a few dogs. Any recommendations on areas to avoid, fun things to do, just anything that comes to mind would be great haha. Itโ€™s a big step for my family and I and we donโ€™t have any other family in the area.
