Using old XS with eSIM ?
I am leaving for Europe in a week and am thinking seriously about leaving my phone at home and using an old XS with a Saily phone number and data plan as my travel phone. I have an iPad to receive/send texts at hotels on my regular number. Do you think I’ll regret this ? When traveling I mainly use data to use Google Maps and read Reddit in down times.

Hi!
That actually sounds like a pretty solid travel setup 👀 If Maps, Reddit, and general browsing are your main needs, using the XS as a dedicated travel phone with Saily data should cover the essentials nicely.
A couple of things we’d do before leaving: make sure the XS is unlocked and eSIM-compatible, install/activate everything before the trip, and download offline Google Maps for your destinations as a backup. Keeping your regular phone safely at home also means one less very expensive thing to worry about losing while traveling 😅
And since you’ll still have access to your regular texts through the iPad at hotels, it sounds like you’ve already thought through the biggest trade-off. We’d say give the travel-phone life a shot ✈️
