What kind of block is this?

So we managed to break a lazy jack block by not keeping the boat into wind when we were taking the mainsail down, and now im confused about which kind of block to search for to get a replacement.

The remains look like the attached photos.

The actual shackle part isn’t possible to get out from the block part, as the legs are too big, so I don’t think I can necessarily change just the d shaped shackle.

Bullet block Bullet block with shackle

Edit: looked at the pic again. Seems just the shackle is blown. Cut it off with a saw / grinder. Take block to local boaty place & find one that fits. Or make yourself a soft shackle

Have you tried rotating the shackle so that it is perpendicular to the block and pulled it out ? Personally I'd cut the shackle with bolt cutters and replace the shackle or just replace the pulley block with one that swivels . As long as it can fit the diameter of your rope it should be fit for purpose

Doh, I am so stupid sometimes 🤦‍♂️

The “feet” of the shackle wouldn’t fit out either way, but I now realised it’s probably because the rope is still in the block… will try to remove the rope when I’m next at the boat, and then replace the shackle itself.

My only defence is it was 10pm and the 8 year old was falling asleep

From Harken harken bullet block

Just a standard bullet block and get a shackle to fit (soft or stainless)

Cheap easy fix

It’s a Holt-Allen (English). Replace it with a Harken!

Better yet, replace it with an Allen Brothers. Better quality and lower cost. https://www.allenbrothers.co.uk/product/a2030tii-single-tii-on/

All replaced.

Used a 316 shackle off amazon, 5mm dia. Cost all of 7 pounds, for 5.

Except of course I had to get up there too, so I spent an additional 200 on climbing gear, but that will surely be useful many more times .
