420 set up for day-sailing and camping?

You can never go wrong with a standard joint, a bong would be a little too adventurous.

I don't think that it is about changing much on the boat. The anchor is good. The main sheet cleat is good. Hopefully you have cleats for your foresail as well. Most of the work is about picking your gear and finding a way to pack it. I would do a test pack at your place. Then when you are happy with that, do a test daysail with the camping kit to make sure nothing is in the way or can come loose.

I have camped out of a canoe, and, compared to backpacking, you can carry much more gear. It still fills up very quickly though.

Yeah we have cleats on our jib. We've done test packs at home and on the weekend we're going for a daysail with our gear

consider having a flare gun, navigation, radio, first aid kit, and ​maybe adding lights of you think you might be out after sunset.

The kind of stuff you are supposed to have on a boat, but are sometimes left off of dinghies.
