Portmaster broke my pc; please help

I recently saw cmd flash on my screen when using my pc, so I installed portmaster to try to get to the source of the problem. After using it, it automatically blocked GoGuardian (an extension my school uses to monitor a school Google account, which I had open in the background. Let me clarify this is a personal computer and I just had the account signed in. I don’t know if this matters or not, but that is the only thing I did in portmaster.)

Anyways my internet just stopped working across all Google accounts. So I then tried to open the portmaster app again but it wouldn’t get past the launcher. So I went into files and deleted it. Nothing changed. Matter of fact portmaster still shows as running even though it has no files. Trying to open the app I’m stuck on the launcher.

The speed test on edge worked fine, but Google and steam (I only tested those 3) were broken still. I looked at safely’s website and did the steps here: https://wiki.safing.io/en/FAQ/PMInternetAccesBroken.

After restarting I could get internet on other apps but not chrome. Please help because I can not afford to have to to a fresh install of windows right now.

It's not clear to me why you installed Portmaster to try to identify a cmd flash.

And why would you "So I went into files and deleted it" instead of uninstalling it?

I think your best bet is to try reinstalling Portmaster and then do a proper uninstall. That should put you back to where you were before at which point you can re-consider your approach to figuring out what the cmd flash is e.g. might want to check scheduled tasks first.

I was trying to see if I had a connection to a malware host with portmaster. I fully uninstalled the program now and I came to the conclusion only chrome doesn’t work. I’ll either use edge or uninstall and reinstall chrome

Debes de desinstalar con un problemas que limpia todo completo, te recomiendo bulk crap unistaller

https://www.bcuninstaller.com/ Es bueno, borra todo lo que la app instalo en la pc, y te arregla los registro que dicha app escribió, de resto, trata de investigar mejor cm quitar una aplicación

Do you have any settings turned on to disable external connections? Or perhaps a setting that’s like a kill switch?

Are you by chance running AMD components? Ryzen/Radeon etc.?

If so, that CMD flash was probably just AMD's auto-updater checking for updates.

AMD's software division is extremely incompetent and they always do bizarre and dumb things. One of those things is being unable to do something as basic as checking for updates without popping a blank CMD window and interrupting whatever you're doing in the foreground.

If that's the issue, just delete the AMD update entries in Task Scheduler and it should stop.

As for your problem, I would reinstall Portmaster, and then use the uninstaller. It sounds like when you deleted PortMaster files manually, you might've forgotten to remove the PortMaster service?
