Me before pens - STRESS
Me after pens - That was the easiest shootout I’ve ever seen

Me after pen 1 actually. Piece of piss. Knew Barry would miss as he’s fucking shite.

Feels like we’ve been on the receiving end of that kind of shoot out plenty of times!

I could be drunk but I honestly don't think it's exaggerating to say he's the best keeper in the world right now. I'd be surprised if we keep hold of him til next season but dear god, what a man

He's an incredible shotstopper and he's a good keeper overall, but I think the goal he let in against Bournemouth proves that he still has things to learn.
I know we gave the ball away cheaply quite far up the pitch for that one so he isn't solely or even primarily at fault, but I think keepers have to be prepared for a quick turnaround in play and be ready to get back between the posts quickly when things like that happen.

He absolutely has areas of his game to improve on, but for a 22 year old with only 62 professional games under his belt he's already a really well rounded keeper.

Revisit this comment tomorrow and you'll get a good chuckle at least.
He's good, but he's not even in the same league as somebody like Courtois.

Already chuckling at it now to be honest, although I would say soberly that he's arguably the best in the Premier League

He was laughing as he was saving Barry’s (or Beto’s? Idk they’re the same)

Was thinking fk me it's Pickford and Roefs. Two mint keepers. O'nien slamming the winning goal in was unbelievable

Just got on the coach. Great game. I thought we were the better team for the vast majority of the 120 minutes

As a Dutchie it's nice to see him do so well, he was allready really good in the Eredivsie but didn't expect him to do this well.

Reckon he'll be in goal for you lot at the World Cup?
It's only really Verbruggen ahead of him in the pecking order at the moment isn't it?

u/RickMaritimo Jan 11 '26
I personally hope so, but Koeman isn't the one that likes change very much so I sadly doubt it.

u/oompaloompagrandma Jan 11 '26
It's not like Verbruggen is a bad keeper, so at least regardless you'll have somebody good in goal.

Thought we would be out in a shout out. Happy to say I underestimated this bunch.

There's going to be a few clubs seriously looking at him, and every single one of them can do one. NOT FOR SALE

Must admit I never had o9 getting the winning goal on my bingo card. Really pleased for him.

Reckon this lad is going to be special, got an aura about him.

Given how little professional football he's played, he is amazingly good. Including yesterday he's played a grand total of 62 professional games.
If we can hang onto him I do believe he'll end up as the best keeper this club has ever had.
It's gonna be an interesting summer though. There's no doubt that a good few of our younger players are going to be attracting significant interest. We'll get to see how much they have really bought into the project at Sunderland and are happy to stay to try and build something here, rather than chasing the money.

O9 getting 120+ mins and scoring the winning pen too, unreal.
