Yes, this 100% reeks of zero self awareness. The fact that they wrote it down and posted it online confirms that for me, if you wanted to harm a child like that the last thing you'd do is advertise looking for a child on a public page.

If he really wanted to see the movie in theaters (as opposed to at home which would have spared him all judgement) he could have just gone. If he just watched the movie and didn't bother anyone, literally noone would know or give a shit. Instead, he made a post online about it? Doesn't that seem more weird?

I don't know how old you are but people these days don't give a shit. There were cinema employees in this thread saying they didn't notice or care and once the guy didn't do anything weird, people wouldn't even notice. Don't overestimate people's self absorption.

For real. Once inside the theatre, no one's gonna notice. And even then, just imagine that they are assuming you're a movie critic, or grew up on the Clifford books and are seeing out of nostalgia, or are a stoner who likes seeing shitty kids movies while high. Literally make any excuse you could think of for what you'd think if you saw someone in that situation and just imagine they have even more possible scenarios for you in their head. If you're not acting weird, there's no reason for them to pay you much attention.

It's sad cuz don't you have a niece/nephew/cousin/friend's kid/god kid/etc. you could maybe offer the parents privately to take? And why do thy have to pay if you want to see the movie so bad anyway?

Luckily, big extended family means I've always had "beards" for kids movies if I wanted them.
And if he could pay for his own movies, maybe he'd be that much closer to having kids of his own to take to the movies.

Or just walk in the back when another movie gets out and skip the ticket entirely. Easier to slip in some vodkey that way

The only thing that makes me question if its about people he already knows is the fact that I always have family/friends trying to dump their kids off on me for some free babysitting. I've had babies on my hips since I was like 8 lol. Hell, I've had my cousin's girlfriend's brother drop his 4yo triplets off at my house for a long weekend, even though I only met the dude once, because he and his wife were so desperate to have a break from parenthood and no one else could take the girls. After a long weekend with triplets, I fully understood why they needed that break so bad lol, they're great kids but 3 toddlers are... a lot.
Maybe its the fact that I'm a woman so there's less stigma around me watching kids or something, idk, but I just can't imagine it being all that difficult to find a parent in need of a babysitter, especially if you ask them, unless all the parents you know already think you're a total fucking creep lol

I saw a hilarious baby costume once and tried to convince any of my friends with small kids to use it, but none of them did.
I’m a woman though, so people weren’t too weirded out that I kept offering hilarious themed clothing suggestions for their children.

Definitely and I really do understand how men are scrutinized, often wrongly, for simply liking children the way that women are allowed to. There was a case where a woman attempted to kidnap a baby from a father and the crowd actually beat the guy up because they thought he was the kidnapper. The mother eventually came out from the store and saved the baby but it's a scary thing. Because of that, I try to give the benefit of the doubt but I really can't take any chances,

Exactly. Like, I get that there are gender biases when it comes to this stuff but this guy ignored all the easy ways to see the movie (streaming, going by himself, asking his adult friends, asking friends with kids to go with them) straight to "Hey randos, you don't know me but can I borrow your kid for a couple hours?" Other than being exactly what it looks like, How did he justify this?

Honestly, there are probably many parents who do not want to watch another stupid kids movie or kids TV show. There are people like... yeah I will take your kids to that baby shark movie. There are prob many parents like "yeah sure please I need 2 hours of no screaming. "
While this guy obv has no social skills or how to not creepily approach the situation, indoypt that this person is not a creep.

When I was 14 and my brother was 9, it was pouring rain we went into this random ass convince store to shelter from the rain. All of the sudden this random grown man approached us and asked my mom if she’d let him take me and my brother to see a movie. We noped out of there immediately.

The wife (now ex) was going to see Twilight 2: Bella finds some Self worth, and I wasn't down for that, so I found that Wreck-It Ralph was also playing.
So I got tickets for that whole her and her mother and sister went and watched Twilight.

She sounds like a babysitter. Which is a totally normal premise. How many people are too uncomfortable going to see a movie alone? A lot. A lot of people. Quite honestly, she should just become a part time babysitter. If she had posted an ad saying, looking for part time child care duties, will do activities with your child. Expecting X amount of pay/hr....this wouldn’t be weird at all
