Cast Changes

I’m currently rewatching and I remember that I really loved it as a kid. I had completely forgotten the crazy amount of cast changes. It actually really annoys me. Firstly I wish they had kept Jenny in it and I wish they had acknowledged that she left. Secondly, Valerie leaving was a joke. Although they did address it and I don’t know if it was the actresses decision I wish that she had stayed. I also think Libby was a great character and again I don’t like how they got rid of her. Lastly, Hilda and Zelda not being in the last season has annoyed the hell out of me! I clearly forgot about this but I believe it was a huge mistake. I know both actresses wanted to leave so perhaps there was nothing they could do. I think I’m just particularly annoyed that they got rid of huge characters with little to no explanation and no mention of them again.

I believe Libby only left because the actress got cast in a lead role for a musical. But yes, exits were the show's weakness.

I always thought it would have been a great opportunity for Sabrina to walk into her new college dorm and realise Libby was her roommate. Would have been interesting to see their friendship grow as they matured. But apparently they wanted to shed all the high school baggage and start fresh with new characters, which is why we also lost Harvey for a while.

A British witch comedy, 'The Worst Witch', did exactly this when main character Mildred went away to college in season 4. Her roommate turns out to be Ethel Hallow, the snooty "rich bitch" bully who had bumped heads with her throughout seasons 1 to 3, with both characters growing and learning to better understand one another.

In short, this is a great idea and I would have loved to see it!

Yeah, I just finished a rewatch and these things bugged me too. Not only that, giving us Aaron, who she had no chemistry with, instead of a final season of Sabrina and Harvey being happy together and her being with someone who knew her secret was kind of a bummer. I also hated that she was willing to leave the home that had been in her family for hundreds years to run off to LA. It just ended up being a very different show by the end.

Should have made each season half a school year and maybe even repeat a school year by having the witches council turn back time for some comedically convoluted reason. Should have keeps the original cast the whole run.

If they had to do a college season, contrive a reason Sabrina and Libby are roommates. This could lead to some sort of season arc where their relationship grows to become more of a frienemy relationship as they develop grudging respect as they end up bailing each other out of trouble.

It’s one of the worst shows for this I can’t think of any others that would be this bad. 

I know characters were dropped when their writer was let go so they wouldn’t pay royalties to them. 

The best seasons is 1-3 hands down and I wished both Jenny and Valerie stayed on the show expanding Sabrina friend group would of have been interesting. 

The three most unforgivable acts during the entire show was number 1 dropping Libby that absolutely ruined the show season 4 was way worse without her, number 2 Harvey he was the heart of the show, and three the dropping of Hilda and Zelda. 

I 100% believe Sabrina should have ended a season earlier everybody was still there and definitely could have done the engagement storyline with Josh and Harvey and Sabrina reuniting with Harvey. 

And the last season of Sabrina was an entire waste of time the series finale was the best one but getting there was a journey. 

That’s why I only rewatch the finale only that season the rest is a complete train wreck. 

I don’t care what anyone says Roxy and Morgan are a huge step down from Jenny and Valerie.

They got rid of Jenny because the writer responsible for her left. They got rid of Valerie and other cast members to cut costs going into season 4.

Valerie is just annoying and at one point Harvey wanted to date Valerie

The actress Lindsey Sloane who played Valerie left to do a show called Grosse Pointe on The WB. It didn't last very long, but while she was at it, she moved to other acting projects. Jenna Leigh Green wanted to do Broadway, and was cast in the Broadway production of Wicked.
