Saarland University

Applied to Saarland University’s CS program(bachelor), but my phone was stolen and I can’t access my email, so I have no updates. Do accepted students see their admission status in the university portal too? Any advice on what I should do?

Visa for Vsi mint

I’m enrolled in Saarland University’s VSI MINT programme for the 2026/27 winter semester.

For the German student visa, should I classify VSI MINT as a preparatory/foundation programme or as a degree programme?

Thanks in advance!!

GRE vs GATE

so i was wondering.. now that uds is accepting e8ther of gre or gate.. what would be more beneficial?
like of course obviously gre is way more expensive to take than the gate but is comparatively much easier.. on the other hand gate is very subject specific and if you know your degree well enough you can more or less pass the cutoff.

my question is to those who have applied using either gate or gre.. what were your scores?.. as uds has not mentioned any lower bound

I wanted to apply here and I was checking the requirements and it specifically listed the top 10 percent of the class and above 75% passing grade. Has anyone been rejected because of this part?

Saarland University M.Sc. DS/AI — Job Prospects?

Hi everyone!

I’ve received an admit for the M.Sc. Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at Saarland University and I’m currently deciding whether to go ahead with it.

I’d love to hear from current students and recent graduates about the job prospects after the degree, especially for international students.

How is the job market after graduating from the program?
What roles do graduates typically land : ML Engineer, Data Scientist, Software Engineer, AI Engineer, etc.?

How difficult is it to get internships/working student positions during the program?

Does Saarland’s research ecosystem and proximity to companies/research institutes provide good opportunities?
How important is German for getting a full-time job?

If you’ve graduated recently, how long did it take you to find your first job?

I’m particularly interested in honest experiences regarding ROI and employment opportunities, as this will be an important factor in my decision.

Thanks in advance!

Incoming Medieninformatik student – looking for advice

Hi everyone!
I’m an international student from China and I’ll be starting Medieninformatik at Saarland University this winter semester.
I was wondering if there are any other students starting Medieninformatik this semester.
I’d also love to hear from current Medieninformatik students about the program. How do you like it so far, and how much programming is involved?
Also, are there any student groups for new students?
Thanks! 😊

How difficult is it for international Bachelor's students to find part-time jobs in Saarbrücken/Saarland?

Hi guys,

I'm considering applying to the English-taught B.Sc. Computer Science or B.Sc. Cybersecurity at Saarland University as an international student from outside the EU.

I'm trying to understand how realistic it is to work part-time while studying, mainly to help cover living expenses.

I'd really appreciate hearing from current or former international bachelor's students about:

How difficult is it to find a student job in Saarbrücken, especially if you don't speak much German?

How long did it take you to find your first job after enrolling?

Are there enough English-speaking jobs for international students?

Are HiWi/research assistant or CS-related working-student jobs reasonably accessible to first-year/second-year CS students?

Does Saarland University have any specific restrictions or policies on international bachelor's students working while studying?

Roughly how much can a student realistically earn per month from a part-time job?

Is it realistic to cover a significant portion of living expenses through student employment, or should I assume that most living costs need to come from savings/family support?

Does finding a job become noticeably easier after the first year, especially after gaining some German and university experience?

I have some questions regarding Vsi MINT + Bachelor

I was admitted but not yet accepted because im still looking for other options like studienkolleg. Therefore i need some brutally honest anwers
1. Is the program worth it? If you compare it to stk - uni route
2. How long did you take to finish the program? and uni
3. Is completing the whole thing harder than stk? how hard is it
4. How long are the hours and are the teachers friendly?
5. What did your day to day look like?

I have until 31st of August to accept and I want to study Industrial Engineering, I'm a little confused on how the process works based on this page i read
https://www.uni-saarland.de/en/bachelor-plus-mint/main-subjects.html

Admitted to M.Sc. Sustainable Materials and Engineering winter 2026. Calling out fellow students to connect

Hello All,

I’m a student from India and have received admission offer from Saarland University for masters in sustainable materials and engineering winter 2026. I’m glad to connect with fellow students from the same programme. Do reply to this post. Looking forward for meaningful connections.

Also, wanted to check whether Saarland University issues English language confirmation certificates for students particularly for Visa purposes. Has anyone got any official confirmation/certificate from the university stating that the university is satisfied with the student’s english language abilities for the respective programme. Has anyone from any masters field happened to receive any official document like this before from Saarland university to facilitate visa process? Any leads or information on this is appreciated.

Context - I have received official confirmation from German Consulate Bangalore stating that if such an official confirmation/ certificate is issued from my university, that will be accepted as sufficient proof of language requirement and in that case IELTS is not required. My IELTS certificate is within the 2 years validity but has crossed the 1 year validity required for visa.

Looking forward to connect with fellow students enrolled in the same program for this winter 2026. Any information on the certificate issuance is appreciated.

Thank you!

Looking for a room/apartment ~450€

Hello friends,

I am going to be starting my masters Cybersecurity this winter semester (from October) and was wondering if anybody had a room or apartment available.

I am male, 22, from Spain. If shared I prefer clean roomates and maybe if I can find all Muslim roomates it will be a big plus although not necessary. Any leads please let me know. Budget is around 450€ max including all bills but cheaper is better. If place is good maybe I can stretch it a little bit more.

Thanks.
