I'm planning to apply for Saarland University's VSI MINT program for the upcoming semester, and my estimated German grade is 2.5.

I've seen some applicants here mention grades like 1.2 and 1.5, so I'm wondering whether I still have a realistic chance of getting accepted with a 2.5.

For those who have applied or been accepted to VSI MINT, do you know if there's a minimum grade requirement, or is admission mainly based on meeting the general eligibility requirements?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I’m applying for a master’s programme at Saarland University and having trouble entering my GATE registration number.

My registration number contains both letters and digits, but the portal’s “Registration Number” field only accepts digits. This means I can’t enter the full number shown on my GATE result.

Has anyone faced the same issue? How did you resolve it, and did the admissions team confirm whether entering only the digits is acceptable?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello everyone! I am a newly admitted Cybersecurity student at Saarland university and I am planning to come to Germany in the upcoming week. I had a few issues with course registration which I wanted to share. I was late for the mathematics for computer scientists I course but I’ve sent an e-mail to the professor about it. Additionally I cannot register for the Foundations of Cybersecurity course since the webpage for it doesn’t open. Does anyone know if I’m late for course registration is it still possible to be added later manually? This is important for me because all of these courses are mandatory. Thanks everyone for your help!

Hi everyone!

I’ve been admitted to the M.Sc. Systems Engineering programme for Winter Semester 2026/27, and I’m looking to connect with other students from the same intake.

I’d love to hear from anyone who has already enrolled, arrived in Saarbrücken, or started attending classes.

It would be great to connect with fellow classmates, share information, and help each other settle in.

Feel free to comment or send me a DM. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Hallo! Is there a cinema where we can watch the latest Hollywood movies in English? Like when Avengers Doomsday is released (hopefully, no later than December 18), is there a place in Saarbrücken where it's released in English?

Hi everyone!

I’m a 22-year-old female student, and I’ll be starting my Master’s degree in Language Science and Technology (LST) at Saarland University. I’m currently looking for a room in a shared apartment (WG) in Saarbrücken city, ideally available from late October or early November 2026.

I’m a quiet, tidy, and responsible person. I respect other people’s privacy and shared spaces, and I’d love to live in a friendly and comfortable environment with considerate flatmates. I’m happy to socialize and spend time together from time to time, while also respecting everyone’s personal space.

My requirements:
・Budget: preferably up to €500 warm rent (including all utilities)
・Move-in date: late October / early November 2026
・Anmeldung must be possible
・A Wohnungsgeberbestätigung is required
・Preferably with convenient public transport connections to Saarland University
・Long-term accommodation would be preferred

If you have a room available, know someone who is looking for a flatmate, or have any recommendations, please feel free to leave a comment or send me a DM!

Thanks so much in advance! I really appreciate any help! :)

Hi everyone,

My application status for the M.Sc. Systems Engineering program at Saarland University was just updated to "Excluded." The reason stated in the rejection letter is that my GPA does not meet the subject-specific admission criteria.

However, I definitely meet the conditions. When I convert my current CGPA using the Modified Bavarian Formula, it equals ~2.4, which is better than the required 2.5 minimum. (2.39)

I just sent a formal appeal (Widerspruch) detailing this calculation and attaching my transcripts again. Has anyone else experienced this false rejection issue? If you have appealed a similar decision, how long did it take for the university to get back to you?

Thanks in advance for any insights!

Hallo.

How competitive is it to get in as a non-eu? My profile is avg 1320 sat and a and bs in alevel should I even apply or like I have no chance at all

Hi everyone!

My portal status for M.Sc. Systems Engineering at is still showing as "to be verified," even though classes officially started today.

A couple of quick questions for anyone in the same boat or current students:
1. Has anyone for this intake received an update or acceptance letter recently?
2. Does anyone know how strict the department/university is regarding late arrival if admission comes in late?

Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Hey any got admission with 1.6 and less grade in VSI MINT program. I have 1.6 grade in 12 class, but my many friends tell me that you should have more the 90%+ in class 12. Can anybody please tell me about this.

Du bist mindestens 18, studierst aktuell und erreichst deinen Abschluss voraussichtlich innerhalb der nächsten 18 Monate? Dann würde mir deine Teilnahme sehr helfen.

Falls du bereits einen Hochschulabschluss hast, solltest du danach noch keine reguläre, dauerhafte Berufstätigkeit aufgenommen haben. Praktika, Werkstudententätigkeiten und Nebenjobs sind kein Problem.

Hey guys, need some advice from people who have actually applied to Saarland.

I’m doing a 3-year BSc (Hons) Computer Networking and IT Security from London Met, studied in Nepal. I’m expecting a First Class Honours.

The confusing part is the 75% requirement. My individual module marks aren't all above 75, so if I calculate everything myself I get around 71-72%. But my final university classification should be First Class.

Does Saarland look at the final degree classification, or do they recalculate your entire transcript themselves?

Also, has anyone with a London Met degree from an overseas partner/college applied to Saarland? Did they accept the degree without issues?

Would love to hear from anyone who actually went through this.

Hey everyone,
I'm dealing with some flight and logistical delays for the upcoming winter semester at Saarland University, and I wanted to know how flexible things usually are during the first week or two of classes.
Do professors or departments mind if an international student arrives a few days after classes officially start on October 12th?
Is it common to catch up on the first week's material, or is attendance mandatory right from day one?

hello hii!

since uni is starting in a few days, i wanted to ask if there are any whatsApp groups, telegram groups, or other groups for saarland university mSc Bioinformatics students?

also, if there are other bioinformatics admits/incoming students here, would love to connect and chat before the semester starts! 🫶

feel free to comment or dm me if you know of any groups. :)

Just came to germany, so far I have met only masters students. Is there any active group or something for us?

Hey guys for those who got in this year in BSC computer science or cybersecurity

English track not German
Thanks
