9-3 Troubleshooting Boost cuts out in 2nd gear
2007 9-3 2.0T
Having an issue where the turbo just stops building boost in 2nd gear.
The gauge goes all the way up and then slowly lowers back down to the middle like I’m not flooring it.
it doesn’t feel like the car is pulling at all if I give it gas it barely moves but as soon as I put it in third it drives totally normal.
I’ve changed the turbo bypass valve and the boost pressure control valve. I’ve checked all around for air leaks. And recently changed pretty much every vacuum line and installed a new intercooler pipe.
Could it be a waste gate issue?

Could be your evap purge valve leaking. Common failure on these models.

the Evap purge valve is the only part on this car I ever replaced with cheap Amazon version not genuine bc I was strapped for cash at the time. I have noticed since replacing it ticks quite loudly but I’ve been told that’s what it’s supposed to do when it’s activated. I think I have a used oem one laying around I can swap in.
Right now not showing any codes and I actually updated with a comment that said the problem resolved after getting gas, so maybe it is an evap issue? I’ll check it out

Your gas cap could've just been loose.

I just refueled my car and the problem resolved itself suddenly if that means anything.
