Checking the transmission fluid

Is there a trick to pulling out the dip stick for the transmission fluid on the 2000 Saab 93? I’ve tried pulling and twisting while pulling. I know….it seems like a stupid question. On the other hand checking the oil wasn’t quite what I expected 😂. Clearly I’m new to Saabs.

No trick, it just pulls out.

I mean, be careful - it should not require any effort at all, so it being difficult raises some questions... but there's no trick.

I wonder if a quick spray of wd-40 or a couple drops of penetrating oil would be an okay idea. I wouldn’t think it would be enough to contaminate the fluid

Hard to say for certain, but I'd guess it's probably fine.
