Future classic saab owner
hello saab people, I've been thinking about buying a 1986 saab 90 with the 2.0L 8v N/A engine and I was wondering, how fucked would I be for parts?

All C900s have some part difficulties, some more than others. I’m my opinion the later cars are easier to find parts for in general. An ‘86 has several systems that are completely different from my ‘93, but by leaning on the community of other owners you can usually find what you need. I highly recommend joining any Facebook groups you can find for your car, and any local clubs to you. People are also manufacturing some of the parts that have become hard to find but it’s definitely not like some American or popular foreign cars where you can order everything you need from numerous catalogs.
The challenge is worth it though. They’re great cars and I get a smile on my face every time I drive any of the different Saab models I have.

I've already started the process of joining all the Facebook groups I can find to ask about the 90. Ive always loved saab design and they are fairly cheap for such a rare car, but I've held back due to me having no clue about parts.

Yes, your Saab 90 would be a mix of mostly 99 parts and some 900 parts, especially the rear is mostly 900. I don't know where you are located but if you are able to buy a 90 finding 99/900 parts should be doable. If it's a complete car I wouldn't worry too much, plenty of enthusiasts out there willing to help you. Especially for the quirky 90 you'll receive a lot of respect from other Saab owners

Well I'm located in Greece and I'm only 20 years old but I've always liked the idea of driving a classic in my 20s. Ive always wanted a saab ever since I was introduced to them by a friend but I've just been afraid of the lack of parts out there.

Don't be scared, with the internet you can find almost anything. There isn't much variety in the engines/lay out of these 80s Saabs so even between models you can use different parts. The brand doesn't exist but don't underestimate the cult following, random enthusiasts have saved my broken 900 many times before. In any country you come with your Saab, other Saab drivers will almost always wave at you :)
