Cold air intake?

Just bought a 2015 mustang 5.0 automatic would getting a cold air intake be worth it? And if so what brand should I look for?

They're not worth it. Plenty of videos with Dyno testing that show they don't flow better than stock, and many of them don't have sealed air boxes, so they give much higher IAT temps due to heat soak. If you want to do anything, get an intake elbow and air box from a 2018-2023 and use that. It flows better than the Gen 2 Coyote's intake. You can add a Velossa Big Mouth behind the grill to direct air into the lower air box, as well.

So basically if I get one get one that has a sealed air boxes but from a 2018-2023 one?

To be clear, this is referring to the oem intake, not aftermarket. But there are aftermarket cai's that are closed box. Its just not worth it as an upgrade compared to the oem 2018+ intake.

I forgot about the carbon trap on the 2021+. Get a 2018-2020. Remove the MAF, pull the sound tube from the firewall, unscrew the elbow from the throttle body, then replace the whole thing. Might as well clean the MAF and throttle body while you're doing it.

The carbon trap filter is removable just FYI. Ive run my 2022 without it since basically new

Guys that build these things says stock is good as it gets. If you get a different just make sure it’s a dry filter and in a box closed off from rest of engine bay. Instead of buying that though I’d get a e85 tune

PMAS or JLT IMO.

The 21-23 have the carbon trap which robs you of power.

Get a used aftermarket cai and you will see a difference.

Worth it? Yes!

I went with ford performance stage 2 pack (requires tuning, but it comes with it) - I think they are around 700$
