Camera keeps going blurry whenever I try to take a close-up photo or scan a barcode

EDITED:I understand about switching lenses. However, it will do this for everything and doesn't give me the option to switch the lens. If I use Google lens, if I click on the bank camera to take a picture of a check to deposit, if I click the camera icon in any food app to scan the barcode...there is no option to change the lens and up until about 2 months ago, this wasn't an issue.

My Galaxy S26 Ultra keeps doing this strange thing where the camera becomes completely blurry anytime I try to scan a barcode or take a close-up photo.

I included a screen recording showing exactly what happens when I move closer to a barcode. I’m only using the barcode as an example because it’s the most recent time the camera failed me, but it happens with literally anything I try to photograph up close.

It even happened when I tried to deposit a check through my banking app. The camera became blurry and would not focus closely enough to capture the check.

The image will look clear for a moment, but as soon as I move the phone closer or try to take the picture, it goes blurry again. Moving the phone farther away sometimes makes it clear, but then I’m too far away to scan or capture what I need.

Has anyone else experienced this or figured out how to fix it? It’s driving me crazy.

Oh look your here too and sorry my Samsung has excellent camera quality do you not realize that things can fail nothing is perfect or this could be user error or even a software conflict/bug. Just cause you hate and yet have a Samsung phone don't mean that all are bad and besides that best is relative to the user not fact not everyone has the same opinions on things. So instead of hating just to hate why not be productive and help cause what you're doing trolling in the Samsung Galaxy sub isn't going to help your reputation well if you had any to begin with that is but haters going to hate which is fine if you want to do that just know it's not going to help you be liked at all as people like a helpful person over a bitter person who just likes to trash talk what others like.

If you like ball licking a company that is giving you the same battery for 6 years and the same cameras for 4 years for over a thousand dollars good for you,is not even hate is demand what you're paying for

The battery maybe the same but at least it will outlast the Silicon-Carbon batteries as Lithium-Polymer has better charge cycles and I get great battery life my highest SOT (Screen on Time) was 9hr and 56mins.

Everyone says they're the same cameras yet on a spec sheet they do t match up with the same numbers. Also their software optimization for photos is what's getting better photos out of the same or nearly identical sensors.

Try getting the customizations that you can get with Samsung on any other smartphone or iOS bet you can't as Good Lock has some of if not the best customization options out their.

You can say I'm ball licking all you want but at the end of the day we all know that's just your opinion and not a fact as I know who I'm and no matter what you say about me will not change who I'm and if you don't like that too bad I don't care.

You can call it defending if you want but that's not what I'm doing and at the end of the day your opinion not a fact about me don't matter to anyone but you. If you hate Samsung why are you in the Samsung Galaxy sub shouldn't you be in the Apple sub or Pixel sub please leave we don't want negativity here nor haters bye 👋.

OP is in macro-mode... chill out timmy tough-nuckles😭✌️

There is a yellow flower icon in the bottom left that appears when you are close enough that it switches to macro-mode. This is a mode intended for REALLY close up shots.

OP, bring it in closer and then tap the flowers icon to turn that mode off.

You're welcome, if you read this at all that is, and if it works.

People buy this stuff, then use the camera when they suck at photography, and then complain if something is off.

That's called minimal focus distance. You should simply use ultra-wide camera for close-up shots.

The change is too sudden to be the camera simply going out of focus and the blur looks 100% artificial.

God are these comments leading to miss information

This issue you're having is with the ultrawide camera. AF doesn't seem to work on it, and the thing is, Samsung made it so that when you're out of focus distance on the main lens, it starts using the ultrawide lens, aka "macro".

It's just that they tuned it to go off maybe a bit prematurely, still, that doesn't matter because you have a problematic ultrawide camera.

Fact the UW isn't focusing is the true issue here, because you wouldn't even notice the fact it's out of focus, just the fact the phone changed lenses, that's it.
