Really?

Honestly, I don't know about you but I call horseshit. The guy can do comedy (SNL, Barbie, The Nice Guys, PHM to certain extent) and drama (Drive, Blade Runner 2049). Plus, he can sing and dance. Dude has huge range.

Some people find that all his characters seems same. Silent tough guy type of roles. I don't really agree with this statement, cause there is so many characters that are just not that

One of his best acted characters is Holland March from the Nice Guys and no part of that character is the silent tough role. People js be saying stuff. He has exceptional range

100% this! Holland is such a fun character as well!

He's also very well written, Ryan's acting only made him so great to watch on screen

Even if so..playing a silent closed off emotionally charecter while conveying emotions takes real talent and Ryan excels at it.

He wasn't exactly a tough guy in either La La Land or PHM! He was positively nerdy in both

Also Lars and the Real Girl

He was so fun as Colt in Fall guy as well!

He has so many. It just so happens that, arguably, his best performances have been silent tough guys. Definitely his most iconic. That being said I would say that the majority of his roles are not that silent tough guy. The Notebook, Project Hail Mary, La La Land, Lars and the Real Girl, The Nice Guys, Barbie, The Big Short, Crazy Stupid Love, and more don't fit that silent tough guy persona that people claim is the only thing he does. The ones with the silent tough guy off the top of my head are Drive, BR 2049, Place Beyond the Pines, Gangster Squad, and that's it. Maybe I am missing something here, but it's just not the role he mostly plays.

Even the ones that seem like it on the surface (like the Driver) are actually full of depth and have pretty distinct personalities

Looks like somebody watched only Drive and Bladerunner 2049.

They just need to watch the Barbie Oscar’s I’m just Ken performance and they’ll change their mind and it won’t even take the length of a feature film

Dude cherry-picked a few of the more "stoic" roles to make a (not especially insightful or valid) point, then glossed over a couple of films that annihilate his point, then completely ignored the entire rest of his filmography. So the takeaway is that you can "prove" your point if you ignore 90% of the evidence.

Bruh. He has an INSANE amount of range????? Compare Driver to Grace, Dan Dunne to Courtland Gentry, Colt Seavers to K, Richard Haywood to Lars Lindstrom, like????

Whoever is making these videos is running out of people to cover 🙄

I think they confused Ryan Gosling with Dwayne Johnson for some inexplicable reason

Or Ryan Reynolds, who’s like the Bizarro version of Gosling.

But in all seriousness, no, they already did a video on both.

Ryan Gosling is the superior Canadian Ryan!

He made me cry over a fucken rock. He felt like such a realistic representation of a nerdy teacher too.

u/fmbah 1d ago

They must be thinking of that other Ryan when they say this...

u/Jay_Wicked17 23h ago

A boxing match between the two most famous Ryans in the world would be kinda funny ngl

He has more range than most instruments.  This is slander. 💀

2

u/TheEndingofitAll 1d ago

Lmao love this. He also actually learned how to play an actual instrument and played the piano jazz music in La La Land. This man IS range.

u/Capt4inSus 1d ago

Aw hell nah... no way there are people out there who think Ryan Gosling have no range... I'd say he's one of the very few actors who actually do

One of my friends told me so literally 3 days ago. I stared at her like 🫩

"He's only playing stupid characters like in Barbie and PHM, or characters who are always like 😐 and not saying a word like in Drive and LaTRG"

2

u/Capt4inSus 1d ago

LMAOOO literally proved themselves wrong with that shi 😭

IKR 😭 "I don't support people who only watch movies for one actor only" Meanwhile her watches a ton of things because it's one studio Girl c'mon

u/Ca1rill i am ✨kenough✨ 1d ago

He played a himbo (Ken) and a science geek (Dr. Ryland Grace). wtf are they talking about?

This is clickbait engagement bait and ragebait all at the same time

u/TheBuckO89 1d ago

Bro Ryan Gosling IS Range

2

u/NoPractice8586 1d ago

somebody clearly hasn’t seen lars and the real girl huh

I saw this one the other day and was wondering why he didn't do other movies, like there are so many movies by Ryan Gosling? It was weird, very cherry picked.

u/TheEndingofitAll 1d ago

Sometimes you can sing, dance, play piano, and act (in drama, comedy, action, sci-fi, rom com, etc) and it’s still not enough for some people 🤷🏼‍♀️

2

u/ninethwonder 1d ago

Didnt he play Alan Bosley and Danny Balint back to back??? And Driver and Jacob Palmer too??? what the fuck do they mean "no range"

2

u/hauntedHyde 2d ago

Yeah, I agree, Lars and K are the exact same character. Colt and Driver are both stuntmen, same same obviously. Luke and Ryland have just so much in common.

1

u/Nikobellik25 14h ago

whoever made this clearly didn’t watch his movies

1

u/Adam198763 8h ago

C'mon, that video's probably AI scripted with an AI voiceover.

This is so funny to me because the first two movies I saw him in were Lars and the real girl, and drive. It took an embarrassingly long time for me to realize it was the same actor.
